The People reports that Big Brother 6 will run for 15 weeks this year, beginning in May.

They report C4 want to extend the show to maximise advertising revenues.

Well, great if it's another BB5. Not so great if it turns out like BB4.

The UK version has always been amongst the shortest, and making it 50% longer would make it amongst the longest version in the World (apart from BB Germany).

However, the average is around 13 weeks - with 12 contestants, but no evictions for the first few weeks.

I do think uping it to 15 weeks would be a big step, 12 to 13 weeks would be best, with the first eviction in week 2 and no more than 3 contestants in the final. The maximum number of housemates IMO should be 13.

Also, I said last year the nightly highlights were too much - and this would be even more the case over 15 weeks.

I'd prefer 48 hour highlights on Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday in hour-long shows, with the live eviction in an hour-long show on Fridays.

Not to sure about that. Dont get my wrong I am an avid Big Brother fan, but 15 weeks may be slightly too long for the viewers and the contestants, If they were to extend the show, they would also need to extend the prize money.

12/13 Weeks would be fine.

They wouldnt need to increase the prize money. Thats never really been a big factor in BB UK. Most contestants are there for the exposure on tv than anything else.

To be honest as someone who watched since Nasty Nick got outed from BB1 I think this could be a bad move.

Neverless I personally think that this year should be the LAST series as to be honest I can't really see where they can go from here especially since a transexual won BB5. Prehaps a mathadite but even then.....

You mean Hermaphrodite, surely?

Your point is still rubbish. Nadia was simply the most entertaining person in there.

Of course! The Simpsons

The odd 'extra' episode has already been slotted in here and there over the Christmas period. This time next year the schedule will be flooded.

Plus of course something Simpsons related narrated by Jimmy Carr Wink Rolling Eyes

What does "crying out loud" actually mean?! Confused

Simon, remember that even those people who don't like Big Brother would consider it more entertaining than Pages from Ceefax. With possibly the singular exception of yourself.

The legacy of Nadia Almada: A woefully crap, cheesy trance tune.

Oddly, about 90 copies of it are gathering dust in Boston's HMV, and Woolies have ALREADY halved the price and stuck the thing in their January Sale items!

Can I suggest something radical for the BB producers, namely that a sensible moderate person (in the mould of Michael Palin) wins the thing? Surely it's out-gimmicked itself with the trans-sexual victory?

They should drop the programme.
