You like the weekly tasks then. I wouldn't mind them being kept, but they need to be greatly improved.

Here's some mocks for BB5 (and 4):
Big Brother - more new mocks

Another possibility to revamp eviction would be to have a similar system to the first week of BB3, where the public nominate and the housemates decide which of the two with the most votes are evicted.

Whatever they do for BB5, they need a major twist to the whole format which will radically change the show throughout the series. That was the problem this year - the twists only had very short term consequences.

Also, what do you think they should do with BBLB? I don't think having it on C4 has benefitted the show greatly. I think having it on E4 Monday to Thursday and C4 Friday and Sunday, plus an extra late-night show - either on Monday or Thursday on C4, would work best.

I don't think Dermot will hang around forever waiting for Davina to quit - but as soon he quit BBLB, I think he'd be out of the running for the main Big Brother job should Davina later quit.

I say back-to-basics and bring back the 2000 format, which was more of a psychological experiment. They show will get two big for its boots otherwise as it is doing. These days it is too gimmicky and doesn't work. 10 housemates, 10 weeks, 1 winner - you decide. Nobody in, only people out. It's supposed to see how 10 people interact in isolation. No BB will EVER beat that first series with Craig winning.

Well, thats what they did this year - and it didn't work. I personally don't rate the first series very highly. It was good because it was a new format and the first big reality TV show, but give me the housemates from BB2/3/4 anyday.

I think 'themed' Big Brothers are probably the way forward, like what they're doing in the US this year by making the housemates live with their exes. I don't think the regular format is necessarily dead, although they'll have to put a lot of effort into choosing the right people. I think last year's was probably the best, because there were plenty of real 'characters' who got people talking.

If they want lots of snogs, they could maybe do what they do in France. Over there, all the contestants are single and a 'couple' win rather than just one person. They evict people on a boy-girl-boy-girl basis to ensure that they don't end up with 5 blokes and 1 woman in there. The problem with this, though, is that the format creates much higher expectations with the viewers, which aren't always realised!

Hmm, it looks like you want to turn BBUK into BBUSA, Brekkie Boy!

The problem with the HoH system, and letting the HMs talk about nominations is that the show stops being about personality and minutae and more about politics and scheming. It would make a radically different show, but would it actually make it a *better* show?

The one idea I had is that, well, the HMs make their nominations on Monday but we don't find out until Tuesday. Why not get Little Brother to reveal the nominations on Monday and then the viewers can use Monday night to veto one of the nominees? Essentially, the viewers can vote to save one of the housemates from the chop and take them out of the running for the eviction. It would give the public a better chance to keep the interesting people in. And you wouldn't tell the housemates that one of them has been saved, just reveal the people now up for eviction to them on the Tuesday as normal.

I'll get to the changes in a mo, but first, the 'alleged' house move..

They (the BB3 producers) had awful problems finding a location after the house moved from 3 mills studios. They had 3 main things the house needed.
1. Space of at least 500 sq mtrs.
2. Water and electricity to hand
3. Inside the M25.

Pinewood Studios was going to be the place, (and is virtually trespass proof) but failed the 3rd test. Elstree was last on the list - and fitted the bill. The only real problem with it, is that the end of the garden backs onto the 24hr Tescos car park - and that means you are open to loud hailers and things being throw inside the compond.
If anything the only thing that really needs doing is to turn the house 180 degrees around, so the back of the house is facing the car park and the garden area would be where the front is now. You could then have then lower a walkway on a Friday night into the garden and have a dramatic 'lift' out of the garden and back into the outside world.

Anyway changes I'd make next year..
Arrow 3 months duration, and start it in early September (nights draw in so more viewers, and you will get more action in the house, because by October it's getting cooler so very little nocturnal pool action will take place.

Arrow No eviction for the first 2 weeks, and no eviction at the halfway week.

Arrow Change the nominations, so that they vote for the 2 people NOT to be evicted that week, and everybody else would be up for eviction. No reasons should be given.

Arrow Winner of the live task, can ask BB 1 question about what is going on in the outside world (as long it has nothing to do with how BB is perseved. In addition on some weeks, the winner will be offered automatic exemption from being evicted that week.

Arrow Weekly task runs Saturday>Wednesday and there would be a set unchangeable amount for the group for each week .
Pass £100.00 shopping budget and theme party on that Sunday night.
Fail £25.00 shopping budget.

And those are a few of the top of me 'ed at the mo..

That idea could work really well. It would really confuse the housemates, as they wouldn't know what the hell was going on with the votes.

Bringing people into the house unless necessary is mostly a waste of time. They nearly always get evicted within 3 weeks. Although having a duel house and putting them together could work.

Sorry but what else do you expect me to say? Serves C4 right for commissioning three further series at once. Now the public appears to finally be tiring of this rubbish. If I could see the red faces...

Why am I reading this BB thread? Because it's one where I can add my pound of flesh!

The original idea of Big Brother was a novel idea but enough is an enough. Channel 4 should be graceful and quit while they are ahead.

So BB4 is over and the focus now moves on to BB5.

So what do we know. Well, Davina has said she will be back next year, while Digital Spy reports the house is moving to a much more secluded location in Epsom, Surrey - which will see the return of the eviction walkway.

And the changes I'd like to see:

Arrow The show is extended to 10 weeks so that no one is evicted in week 1 - with the prize raised to £100,000.

Arrow The Head of House system is introduced. The Saturday Challenge would be used to determine the new Head of House for the week. They would get a private en-suite bedroom.

Arrow Nominations are scrapped. Instead, the Head of House is the only one who nominates the two housemates that face the public vote. Housemates are permitted to talk about who the Head of House should nominate.

Arrow Every Tuesday night a Nominations Ceremony would reveal who has been nominated. The name of the non-nominees are placed in the nomination box. The Head of House pulls out the first name, with that person pulling out the second etc. Therefore, one by one the housemates learn who isn't nominated until the box is empty and the nominees discover they are up for the chop. The Head of House can then explain their reasons.

Arrow With housemates not nominating, every Thursday they are called to the diary room to discuss which of the nominees should be evicted. These are shown during the Friday night eviction preview.

Arrow The tasks are improved and become more original. Each week housemates would compete in the Head of House Challenge, the Shopping Task (a one-off, rather than through the week), a Luxury Challenge (to win access to things such as the hot-tub and sauna) and another mystery challenge (which has prizes such as a message from home).

Arrow Bedrooms are randomly allocated, with housemates not allowed to switch beds unless moving to a bed of an evictee.

Arrow Big Brother is more flexible with the rules of the house - only telling housemates not to do things when absolutely neccessary. (I feel this year Big Brother has not allowed any deviation from the rules by the housemates). Those that break the rules get a forfeit - and are only evicted in extreme circumstances.

So what do you think of what you propose - and what do you want to see yourself?

(And if your not a fan and about to type you hope Big Brother never returns - why are you reading a Big Brother thread? Let's keep this thread constructive, please!)

So basically the same as Big Brother 4 USA with a public vote?

The only thing that needs changing are the better mix of people. The format currently used is flawless IMHO

I'd agree it all depends on the housemates. The problem this year was too many gimmicks - the more you pester the housemates the more they remember they are on TV. Ignore them and let them get on better and it makes better TV. Plus they should have sent Lisa back in after showing her all the stuff. That would have been good TV. Not Jon Tickle the boring self-important sod.

One change I'd like to see is voting for the person you want to keep in rather than the one you want out - although it seems like a minor thing I do think it would make people think more about who they find more entertaining. Also it could make for different results when there are three people up for eviction.

Also, just an idea - on eviction night (during Davina's interview), the housemates go into the diary room to vote for who they prefer, between the evicted housemate (who got the least votes using the system of voting for the person to stay in) and the person who got the second least amount of votes from the public. However, they don't know who was the second least popular (and obviously, one of them is that person!). If there are more votes for the evictee, then they will return to the house and the second least popular in the public vote goes out. Obviously if the housemates vote for the mystery person in the house, they stay and the evictee doesn't return. Hope that makes sense! I don't know if it would work, but it's an idea, and would make for more interesting conflicts because the returning HM would know what everyone has said about them.

Perhaps they could do that twice or three times in the series rather than every week, though.
