With all due respect, Paul, it isn't for you to say when the "n" word is offensive or not.

What you utter to your friends and family is one thing. This wasn't a one-on-one conversation behind closed doors, this was broadcast to the nation (or at least it could have been if the live stream was on them). I'm sure she thought she was being "street" or "ghetto fabulous" or some other nonsense.

Try explaining that to those who have had the hate-term hurled at them in the past.

I honestly don't know why people on this board - young and fairly intelligent people - would try to justify her actions or even question the decision to axe her.

It's preposterous.

But knowing the "street" or "ghetto fabulous" attitude associated with the "n" word now-a-days, shouldn't the context in which the word is used be analysed, rather than just the use of the word?

White teenage girls from Epping?

Oi! I'm a white teenage girl from Epping! You being racist, Gav? Laughing

Why hasn't Charley been removed as well? She used the same word, in the same conversation, but happens to be coloured , so it must be allowed.
Probabaly because Emily started it....!?

Erm so? If it had been Amanda or Laura who said it in the same conversation you can bet your life they would of been removed as well.

Anyone who uses the language should be removed. "End of". No excuses. No double standards.

(1) Firstly, to describe someone as "coloured" is also racially offensive, or certainly was unless opinion has changed recently.

(2) "they would have been removed...".

Thankyou for correcting me on spelling. I suppose that means my whole point in the post was invalid.

You can only be offended by what someone says if you choose to take offence. You have to rise above it or you become the weak party.

On a Bolton bus the other day a group of British-Pakistani boys we're insulting all white people in "their own language" getting on the bus, we're people offended or bothered...no. It's the reality of everyday life in a multi-cultural society...and isn't BB reality tv?

Biggest load of tosh I've ever heard. I'm offended by any kind of swearing not because I choose to be offended, but because it's morally corrupt.

Seriously, Paul, just where are you coming up with this claptrap?

I've already said this but it doesn't seem to be sticking - if you haven't been on the receiving end of racial abuse then your opinions are based on nothing but conjecture.

As I've also said, it isn't your place to comment on what is offensive to black people.

To widen the scope somewhat, Chris Moyles was recently in a bit of a fix for the use of "gay" as an adjective meaning "rubbish", "lame" and "crap".

He didn't persuade me any more than you that it was acceptable and non-offensive.

How do you know they weren't bothered or offended? Some probably were but didn't want to make a big song or dance about it on a bus. Rolling Eyes

I'm not necessarily trying to persuade anyone of anything, I'm only expressing my White British Male ideas on the matter.

Yeah I wanted Emily out tomorrow night anyway.

Yes, Emily wasn't the most pleasant of people anyway - she is a posh stuck up young Tory; probably the worst type of person. Up herself, I believe is the term.
