As you've probably seen in The X Factor thread, Dermot is taking over so it looks likely we'll lose him from BBLB - as hosting a show six nights a week and covering the auditions during the Summer isn't really going to be possible.

Big Brother must be starting quite soon actually. I wonder who'll replace Russell and Dermot (if they leave).

It's beginning in May as usual.

Rumours suggest Alan Carr has been signed up to replace Russell - but I'm hoping if I ignore them they won't be true!

I'd tip Steve Jones as a likely candidate to replace Dermot - but Russell is trickier IMO. Justin Lee Collins is also mentioned - but I'm not a huge fan of him either.

Alan Carr is extremely funny, but I sense all his humour is scripted and not very spontaneous and therefore, he wouldn't be ideal as a host for a fast-paced show. Also, he's gone down in my opinion since doing the FNP as his humour borders on extremely offensive and plain rude.[/ quote]

And Russell's doesnt?!

But there is a difference. Russel has the sex factor as well as his humour, whereas poor Alan is a little...hmmm....special.

This is from DigiSpy:

The theme for this year's US Big Brother will be the 'Summer of Secrets,' exec producer Arnold Shapiro has revealed.

It does sound familar - it's from two years ago and Shapiro is no longer on board!

Anyway - BBUK Site is back (best BB fansite) and they already have aerial pictures and things. http://bbuksite.net/article/bb496.html

I'm really hoping the production crew are now knocking heads and giving it a major revamp...because if it does come back next month (May) in the same style as last year, same ideas, tasks etc then that definately spells the end.

It got draining spending the Summer last year watching highlights of the likes of Aisleyne just prancing around in high heels, Pete shouting "Awighhht....eeeezzzamana" in the diary room and the constant bore-fest of Nikki nice but noisy.

This year give the housemates something to do, more input from BB but NO MORE TWISTS.

The fear is that if they're stuck at Elstree for BB8 they'll be pretty much restricted by the space they have - so will either leave any major changes until they move out for BB9 - or try to squeeze them into the space they've got and probably not work as well as they should have. I think the problems with The House Next Door showed they were at full stretch already.

Do you think they should have a theme this year, or just stick the people in and let it run as normal.

They'll have some kind of "hook" I'm sure - not sure about the theme.

I think the problem with BB7 is there wasn't really a theme - and hence the twists weren't really connected and hence often appeared random and ill thought out.

BB5 had the strong "evil" theme running throughout all it's twists, while BB6 continued that theme to a lesser extent and had the idea of "secret missions" running throughout too.

I know i did watch Razz They need a slogan, like a hook which you said.

The BBOZ ads get you thinking.

I've always thought a possible theme could be that BB is malfunctioning. Make it a bit like the hatch in Lost. Odd noises over the PA system, doors randomly locking people in rooms, the hot water turning off, lighting not working. Keep the viewers in the dark about what's happening and it'll make it interesting for us to watch. Give BB a secret and keep it a secret so viewers have to keep watching to find out what's going on. Make BB more of a feature, give the HMs an actual game to play rather than allowing them to play their own games. In Aus, BB is firmly in charge. C4 shuld make BB the main focus of the show instead of the HMs.

BBOZ do the same thing every year and always fail to deliver! It's fine though to create the hype - you've just got to be able to match it!

Well Network TEN are the best, very best at hyping up shows. Just look at Neighbours, last year you would have thought you were watching a crime thriller.

I hope they do something good for the BBUK promos, instead of just showing clips of the house. Have the door open, creaking, of the old house and then the camera comes in like a thriller, lights flickering, cobwebs, most of the old fittings have been removed. Big Brother speaks but its fuffled, like you are all confused and dazed. Then the camera pans to a portable tv in the middle of the room, and on the blink it will say "10 days" ect.

How does that sound? Razz
