I wouldn't be surprised if OFCOM get calls throughout this series..

MARCUS: "And Baztwonk is the first person to enter the house..."

VIEWER-WHO-PROBABLY-IS-A-JOURNALIST-FOR-THE-DAILY-MAIL: "- Right, Doris, get me that phone... this guy is revolting, we'll ring OFCOM."

People really need to lighten up. Rolling Eyes

I bet these people have got the OFCOM number on speed dial. Even I dont know the number and wouldnt care what was shown even if they showed something horrid there are plenty of other channels.
Cant wait for Wednesday, but I hope that its good throughout

It's not phoning up that's the problem - it's the internet and how you can just go to the OFCOM website and fill out a form.

It's been confirmed that the cost of voting will be halved to 25p, as it was in BB2-5, before raising to 35p for BB6 and again to 50p (with 10p to charity) for BB7.

C4 have also announced they are scrapping text voting due to phone operators being unable to guarantee votes will be delivered within the neccessary time frames.

That will bring revenue RIGHT down. I'm sure most of the voting comes from texts these days seeing as teenagers seems to be the target audience.

Maybe I'm showing my age but even if using my mobile, I've always found it easier to call.

Here is the BBC News article about Channel 4's announcement.

Turns out they won't be profiting at ALL from the votes this year! The 25p call will go towards administrative costs only, with any surplus going to charity! And top of that with the text voting being scrapped, it all makes this decision really confusing to say the least!

I honestly cannot see the motivation for this - the 'premium-rate phone in scandal' doesn't make me (or anyone else I assume) want the withdrawal of methods of voting for our benefit...voting by text was surely as popular as phone voting because of our reliance on SMS. It seems like an over-reaction to the situation on Channel 4's part in my opinon - maybe trying to get a bit of good PR before the series starts? I'd stick up for Channel 4 through thick and thin, but this just seems a bit OTT...

Especially hard to grasp is why Channel 4 would stop profit-making from its most profitable show in history! According to this MediaFAQ in the MediaGuardian a few weeks ago, New Media profits (the vast majority of which come from premium phone lines) were £13.5million last year. Why would Channel 4 seriously consider denting that so considerably? Now they've set the precedent, they will have to do so in future series too otherwise it looks like they're backtracking...!

Channel 4 doesn't need to dent its profits for Big Brother to be "fair and transparent" - all the other measures newly put in place are good enough! This wouldn't have made the Nikki-crisis from last year any better would it? Ahh!

(Unless you havn't already guessed, I am baffled!)

Not quite sure if Chris Moyles is winding people up, but he just said that he had been in the main house last friday but wasn't allowed to go "downstairs". He shut pretty quick realising he shouldn't have said it.

The reality is voting figures (and profits) have fallen dramatically over recent years, and have become less and less important to the show each year - especially with shows getting longer and longer and the series running an extra few weeks.

What they are losing in voting revenue they can easily claw back in advertising.

As mentioned in the Springwatch thread, I'm sure the live stream is going to get on my nerves again. How is zooming in and out of a kettle entertaining? Laughing

No the best entertainment is watching the contestants all asleep snoring at 6am in the morning!!! Bafta material there, folks!

This is the problem though, it does my head in just watching them lay there or a camera still-focused on the diary room door for the best part of an hour at a time.

Big Brother should play twists and set alarms off in the middle of the night etc - just to keep the live streaming entertaining! Laughing Mind you, even then we'd probably just see a still outside shot until the commotion was over.

I've never understood the fuss over the live feed. I had it free last year on NTL and that's the only reason I watched it - some people actually pay for it though which I don't think I ever would. Waste of money just to watch frequent shots of the diary room door with the now infamous bird sounds.

Can't believe it's so near though - only seems like yesterday when Pete was tumbling down the stairs and I already knew he'd be walking out the winner 13 weeks later. Rolling Eyes Laughing
