I can't believe there is a thread discussing it already. Shows how empty Channel 4's prime time schedules are when the 'next big thing' to talk about is next summer's Big Brother

but is the Summer, the worse time for TV company, September when there show off there Biggest and brightest programmes. but still NO exsuce for showing this rubbish, and its well past is cell by date!
Well, if BB was to be axed on the back of the racism row, they'd also have to end Sky News, close most the tabloids and axe Question Time, Newsnight and the 10 o'clock News!
So perhaps it be worth the sacrifice then!
Big Brother 7, and especially the recent celeb series, have undoubtably been less watchable than in previous years - but even in a weak season Big Brother still shows more signs of originality than any ITV rip-off.
I was worried BB8 might be little more than a filler season if they'd stayed at Elstree due to the restrictions of space they have there - but if the news of a new house is true, it means there is much more potential in the format if they've got the space to play with.
A new house alone though won't solve all of Big Brother problems - the production values have been lacking in the last couple of years.
There needs to be more structure - and less Marcus - in the highlights shows, while the eviction shows need to become "eviction shows" once again, not just highlights shows with an eviction at the end.
Format wise there is still alot of potential there - but more than anything they need to tighten up the core format and be less reliant on random twists. The big twists in the format this year should affect the show as a whole, not just the odd couple of weeks.

Yes Channel 4's peak time schedule is pretty poor apart from a few imports and documentaries.
Its a tricky one. I agree BB needs a huge shakeup but if they change the format too much it may put the final nail in the coffin.
I'm pleased, if true, they are moving to a new base and away from the whole dying format of Elstree - studios in which I think are more suited to film and need a major revamp themselves.

It seems to be a bit all over the place at the moment - there is still some very good programming which attracts viewers at the heart of primetime, but they seem to have largely given up at the weekend - though I was quite surprised how well The Day After Tomorrow did last weekend.
I'd still argue C4 offer a more varied primetime schedule than any other terrestrial channel though - they just need a few more big hitters for a bit of security.

5 years past it's sell by date, but while people are still thick enough to vote and make them sh!t loads of money they'll continue showing it.
