I wouldn't have at all. However, the claim of engineering a win for a black housemate is difficult to refute given the very extraordinary circumstances BB has had to overcome this year. It would almost certainly have been Charley had she not been voted out - thank you Joe Public for piddling on C4's parade!
Please tell me, WHERE are the voting figures to confirm Brian's win? That's right, nowhere to be seen. We do not know how many votes he got or what percentage that translates into, nor how far behind the runner-up was. Viewers are simply told "the winner is...XXX" and have to take that as gospel. Why not "the winner, with XX percent of the public vote, is..."?
Leaving aside the issue of whether C4 manipulated the result to suit the current agenda, a breakdown of the results is the least we would expect given the current mistrust in broadcasters.

First up, we were told the percentage during the live show.
Second, just about every point you've made is completely absurd.
Charley would've won if she wasn't evicted? That's sort of implicit.
I don't believe *at all* that C4/Endemol engineered it for Brian to win in order to save face. I could almost believe they might 'pick' a winner of sorts and distort the show in their favour to encourage people to vote for them, but even that is a bit unlikely, since the only gain for them is if they can encourage people who wouldn't be voting otherwise.
Other than yourself, few have made this a race issue, because it does not exist , desperate as you are to fabricate one. There is no relation between the Emily incident and this, that's as good as forgotten, and I think this:
is completely spot on.
You've clocked up well over 3000 posts here, and I'm pretty sure I've never managed to agree with a single one of them. I can't even figure out your agenda, other than some sort of vague nostalgia for a more ignorant time.
I've read, re-read, and asked a lot of those pesky unintelligent blacks for some help, and still have absolutely no idea what this means. Again, it appears no matter how they dealt with this, it would be 'PC gone mad', 'double standards' etc.
Hero worshipped? At every opportunity they happily let her fulfil their need for a hate figure. That's the way it goes - they create people for you to love, and people for you to hate, so get on those phone lines. The idea that you genuinely believe her being voted out ruined their plans is mind-boggling. I'm sure in the gallery, producers left, right and centre were passing out, spasming violently as the shock news filtered through that she was going home.
There absolutely is a legitimate discussion to be had about how Emily was dealt with. If the exact same thing happened 12 months previously, I'm not sure it would've been handled the same way. My problem is not that she said it, because I don't believe for a second it was said with any malice. My problem is that at no point did she seem to appreciate the potential gravity of it, even when spelt out clearly to her. There was an element of treading carefully on C4s part, but would you really expect any less? What makes me much more uncomfortable is by relating Brian's win to Emily, you are making an issue out of his race.
How you of all people can possibly be in a position to say that is astonishing.

All the more unfortunate they couldn't find any this year then. What utter hypocrisy that they should kick out a girl for using a racist word but then took no steps to find some black contestants that people would warm to - especially given the amount of new contestants continually being added.

They even hero-worshipped Charley for all the wrong reasons and she was probably being primed to win. Yet the public decided to vote her out and once that happened C4's hands were tied - not to mention their plans were in ruins.

YAY!!!!! No more Daviney.
Bri lost me a tenner. Me not happy!
Still reckon endemol got it wrong. They shouldn't scrap CBB. Speciallly after all that tabloid talk that Paris Hilton said she'd do it if the price was right.

Since the beginning and updated every week. Didn't try hard, did you?

JUST watched the finale tat I recorded. I noticed Davina either hinted to us what she really thought, or just made a bit of an ironic comment, but she said at the beginning...''despite there being a no-show summer'' and ''the summer that never was.'' Yes, she was referring to the dismal weather, but you can easily apply what she said to the show. LoL.

Why is that so difficult a concept to grasp? It is clear C4 were trying to keep hold of Charley for as long as they could but once the public voted against her matters were taken out of their hands. They wanted another Jade figure they could get as much mileage as they could from, except where Jade is merely found wanting in the IQ stakes there is a more sinister, unsavoury side to Charley.
You are completely clutching at straws. The Emily incident for me, has been about C4's arrogant and inconsistent responses to racism - not by any means a new concept in Big Brother - and how it responds to it. If C4 took a hard line against Emily, it was because they didn't want anything to jeopardise their beloved cash cow Big Brother. At no point have I ever, or could I ever, justify what Emily said - but that does not mean C4 did not act disproportionately, especially if she was not the only person to say it.
Why not just accuse me of racism and be done with it? Don't hold back, please.
How you of all people can possibly be in a position to say that is astonishing.
Well, Jimmy McGovern, since you have already made up your mind about me what can I possibly say to counter that? I have been fully accepting of ethnic minorities from a very early age so how dare you try to suggest otherwise. The colour of a person's skin is not that by which we should judge them and anyone who thinks different is a moron.
Yet C4 clearly though it was OK to fuel racism in pursuit of ratings; they knew exactly what they were doing putting Jade in with Shilpa Shetty, with the result all too predictable. And they actually believed they could get away with it. When they realised they couldn't, any future responses to racism in BB would be "shoot first, ask questions later" but merely for appearance's sake and in Emily's case that meant they dodged the issue.
Thanks, but all you had to do was provide the link without the smart alec postscript. The percentage gap between Brian and the twins does seem disproportionately large - maybe there is truth in the increasing theories the bookies played their part.

Channel 4 chiefs are meeting to consider the future of Big Brother, it has been reported.
Programmers are said to be considering a full-time move to E4, making it shorter, or even giving it a break for a year, because of falling ratings. The show could then potentially be relaunched in 2009, possibly with a new presenter.
Channel 4 bosses are meeting producers Endemol to consider the options, according to the Sunday Mirror.
"Everyone has been frantic with worry about the way it has gone," an insider told the paper. "The most drastic plan is getting rid of the next series - but only for a year, as they hope the show will come back stronger.
"It would mean the end of an era in a sense, but might just save Big Brother. Everyone accepts something drastic has to be done because Big Brother's image has been really badly damaged."
Big Brother ratings peaked at series three with 5.8 million viewers and this season saw ratings dip to 3.8 million.
However, a spokesman for the broadcaster said: "Big Brother remains a fantastic programme for Channel Four and, as Davina announced on air during Friday night's programme, the search for next year's housemates will begin in November."

And in the meantime, BB is embroiled in ANOTHER racism controversy. This time it was Ziggy using that word but because he did not apparently direct it towards anyone (though the News Of The World claims it was directed in a "matey" manner towards Brian) he was merely given a slap on the wrist.
This despite Angela Jain's statement in June that ANY use of the word would not be tolerated. The leniency towards Ziggy wouldn't have had anything to do with the incident occuring the night before the final, would it?
