Finally this soap opera comes to an end, no more wannabe famous, loudmouths, thicko's or weirdo's taking up TV time.
C4 have got to decide, go back to basics or ditch the format forever, in it's present format the programme will die.
Weed out those who just want to be famous, weed out the weirdos like Johnny and go back to the original format, no tricks, no putting people back in, no fake evictions you will be fine

I doubt Endemol/Channel 4 would risk it to be honest, with the crowds you just don't know there reactions Rolling Eyes

A victory for common sense if she is going, bloody-mindedness from C4 if not. The biggest threat to security, surely, would be Charley...

Is this the only forum NOT to be censoring debate about Emily? Digital Spy and the offical C4 forum seem to be closing any thread about her, even those which try to discuss the incident and how C4 should have handled it in a constructive manner. Surely this goes against C4's PSB remit to stifle genuine debate about thorny issues such as racism?

I know we say it every year, but I think it's finally reached the stage where something major has to change to keep the show alive next year.

So many twists have been recycled from previous series, that they're just not twists anymore. You only have to look at the lack of surprise on the HMs' faces when these twists happen to see the problem.

'Back to basics' may be the only solution.

This series has also destroyed what remaining faith I had in Big Brother allowing democracy and fate to take its course on the evictions. Their corrupt manipulation of who stays and who goes has become blatant and at times an utter joke, such as the last minute knee-jerk decision to swap the final four Halfway Housemates for a different four - because Liam and Ziggy were in peril (resulting in them opening the phone lines as late as Thursday). The way they swapped them wasn't even remotely clever or imaginative!

It then became clear the 5 newbies had only been put in as eviction fodder to string the whole thing out for 3 more weeks, and would never be allowed a sniff of winning.

Yes the addition of the new housemates and the apparent twists which had an agenda were ridiculous. Hopefully next year, the show will start will 12 housemates, 6 male and 6 female and let it go from there. And let the show last for 9 weeks, not 13.

This year's show was a complete disaster. You can even sense Dermot and Davina are bored, despite Davina's fake excitedness...

The producer this year is murdering the format! Revealing nominations, 'fake' evicting people and blatant manipulation of the results, well it was expected as we had the same producer that did 'Love Island' Rolling Eyes Endemol have been very careless in their pursuit for viewers and have damaged the series as a result this year and by God I hope that something changes next year, Big Brother is almost a taboo subject where I work now, it's laughed at and it shows when you watch it

I think the people are varied and interesting. It's just the lousy twists I don't like.

In previous years when it hasn't been so great it has still had the ratings to support its popularity but this year it hasn't. Mondays show had the lowest ratings so far and this is in the final week.

I agree with the above posts. Also what gets me with the twists this year (annoyingly repeating as they are anyway) is the fact they're revealed to the housemates just when it gets "exciting". For example the fake week, it was revealed to HMs that Pauline was fake only about 2 days in and just the other day housemates were told there wasn't going to be an eviction on Wednesday (I know there isn't anyway) but it sort of leaves you thinking "oh well that was pointless".

Thats pretty much the way its been this year. The producers don't quite know what to do anymore and have consequently have got bored with it all just like the viewers.

Back to basics idea sounds the only option for future series - Start again and start with a normal bunch of housemates! Rolling Eyes

I hear 'back to basics' being thrown around a lot lately as if that would be the saving of the show.

It's a bit naive, isn't it? It's simply impossible to get HMs that have anything like the lack of awareness of those applying for the first couple of series. People who really want to get on the show will have the process completely mastered, and so if you take away the twists, you still have 12 egoistic, fame-hungry people, just without anything to make them even briefly appear interesting.
I think the only direction (short of axing it) left is to significantly shake up the core format - as was said above, their own lack of confidence in twists meaning they feel obliged to end them within 48 hours is the worst of both worlds.

I would like them to do what is needed to save it though. I don't think taking a year out will do it any good. It doesn't take two years to review a format, and giving people two years to forget the brand isn't ideal either.

You know what would be good?A Power Rangers version. You decide which ranger you want to be destroyed. Then at the end one ranger has to destroy Big Brother and whoever defeats it wins. Then all the defeated rangers get revived because that's a PR rule.

It would be a lot more interesting! Laughing
