I seem to recall last year one of the producers or similar saying/admitting that the series was too long. So it slightly surprised me that this series was longer.

I agree with comments that they need to come up with some new ideas.

Quite the opposite, they need to go back to basics.

Ditch the gimmicks and the complicated 'twists' and do a vanilla version with the basic rules. Then they need to get some normal people in, a range of ages and backgrounds, not young kids with no experience in life whose only aim is to be famous.

If nothing else it would bring back some respectability to the programme and channel 4. Making it back into a 'social experiment' rather than a freak show is far more within the remit of the channel.

This current series seems to be the end of the road for the series in the style it has become. It really hasn't got the buzz that previous series have had, I don't hear anyone talking about it, and the media coverage is far less (excpet the usual suspects) it does seem like the only people following it are the hard core BB fans. The back story of the series with all it's 'twists' is impenetrable to those wanting to start watching

I gather that they'll be doing an experimental Big Brother in January, which will only be shown on E4. Could be interesting to see what format they go for, as I doubt being on E4 it will have as big a budget. A series without (or very few) twists could work well as many of the house mates would be expecting twists so trying to add in twists has become rather predictable.

On a related note on Friday's BBLB Davina mentioned that this Wednesday Big Brother will be making the house mates think there is going to be a mid-week eviction, though there will be no eviction.

So now we're being told Emily won't be coming to the final.

What?Where?When?How?

Digital Spy is reporting the fact but doesn't go in to the whys and wherefores. Apparently it was announced during the programme and from the tone used it it clear this is not Emily's own decision and therefore smacks of enormous double standards on C4's part.

Perhaps the experimental BB to be shown on E4 is going to be 'Big Brother: Back to Basics'.

Well we can but hope.

There needs to be a house free of ex-popstars, politicians, models etc (and yes I am talking about the main BB series' over the years).

We've all become increasingly bored of fame-hungry egos and numerous repeated twists. Ideas are getting stale.

Just saw today's E4 repeat of BBLB from yesterday, and they've been at it again!

They edited out 4 more whip pans at the very beginning where Dermot introduces the guests (Mel Blatt from All Saints, and then the family and friends). Here is how it was originally broadcast.

This time the edits were even more shoddy, and the sound jumped.

I'd love to know why they're doing this! Any ideas anyone? My only guess is that it's something to do with the fast moving images triggering photosensitive epilepsy - but if that's the case they should tell the cameramen not to do the whip pans in the first place!

For anyone that didn't see this, here is a video of two examples which includes the E4 version and the Channel 4 version...

No. It was, as usual, deathly dull.
