Thought it was worth sharing as I would have thought E4 would have stopped using it by now as it doesn't fit in with the current branding.

You'd have thought they would have had a "sticker" animation to use for such a situation.

Did a cameraman go in to the Big Brother house?

On tonights episode, they had a England/Germany penalty shoot out. When they played the English national anthem, the camera moved across the housemates singing in a similar style to television football coverage. It looked like it was a handheld/steadicam that was actually in the house and right in front of the housemates, some of them even looked straight at it. It was edited quite a bit so we didn't see the camera go in to the house or the housemates reaction to it or any shots from other cameras that would have revealed the cameraman. Mind you, the German Big Brother house seemed to have a presenter in it!

Yes, they sent in a cameraman with strict instructions for the HMs not to speak to them. The German bloke is their "Match Master" who goes into supervise most of the tasks.

Good old British journalism - only took them three years to cotton on to that - six if you include the non-live midweek evictions. Nobody claimed it was live on Friday night - Davina even dropped the "live on C4" line completely.

Sadly there is still a market for this and people even pay for something that would be laughed off the Digital Spy forums.

Talking about stupid forum posts, I wanted to ask how that robot worked. It looked really good on television.

There had to be someone inside it surely.

I thought it was only meant to be delayed 10-15 minutes? In the highlights show last night it said it was about 22.15 when the eviction took place - im sure on the show that must have been over 30 minutes later as they interviewed Shabby before the eviction too.

I remember when Jade Goody got evicted from Celebrity Big Brother, it was shown on BBC News 24 before it was on Channel 4. BBC News had a camera in a nearby street and we saw Jade Goody walking down the stairs from the house. It was only seconds (3 or 4) later that it was shown on Channel 4, so I guess they weren't really delaying it at that point, they must have just had a longer broadcast chain than BBC News 24.

It usually is a 15 minute delay, but they have to clear the site by 11pm on a Friday so due to the extended show the delay was longer. (Anyone know if they cut the live feed?)

It's nothing new and despite what journalists who don't bother doing any research may think, all above board - they've long since scrapped the "LIVE" strap for links to the house, and Davina will only say her catchphrase if the delay is 15 minutes or less as for some reason a 15 minute delay is still considered "live" by OFCOM.

Launch shows have been on a delay since they moved from Fridays as on other nights the Elstree site has to be cleared by 10pm - so if the show runs 9-10.30pm it has to be filmed at least 30 minutes early, whilst if it starts pre-watershed it has to be delayed too satisfy OFCOM. Similarly for any midweek evictions.

Since evictions moved to 10.35pm in BB9 they've all been on a delay too due to their scheduled finish of around 11.10pm - and it also gives Davina time to turn off any presenting skills she may have in preparation for hosting Big Mouth.

And finals end up screwed in both directions - pre-watershed stuff barred from being live by OFCOM, and even if the second show is just 10.00-11.05pm it's usually on at least a 5 minute delay as there seems to be no flexibility in their deal at Elstree at all.

These days there is normally a considerable delay of about 15 minutes or more. As far as I know, the only reason for this delay is the because the house is in a built up area, they have to get the outdoor crowd out by a certain time. ISTR Jade Goody's exit was crowd-less and if so they wouldn't have to abide by the same rules, so could broadcast fully live.

I think it's fine to call a show delayed by 15 minutes live. The events are occurring while the show is being broadcast, so, to me, it is fine.

According to Digitalspy and Davina McCall's Twitter feed, tonight's live show has been cancelled because she is stuck in France.
