Terrible picture quality since it started raining. Brian Dowling apologised just after 10pm because one contestant kept using the eff word, about three times in the VT and another three times while speaking with Dowling pre-entry to the house.

This time ten years ago, arguably the most popular BB series, BB3 was airing.

How times change!

Blimey. This is on in less than an hour and this thread was almost off
the bottom of the second page. It's not like the old days, is it?

Definitely not like the old days at all, like several years ago when Big Brother was at its peak. Things like the rich/poor
division of the house in BB3 back in 2002, or that massive argument in BB5 (2004) that very nearly turned violent
after Emma and Michelle came back to the house from spending a week in the infamous BB bedsit.

Nowadays most people don't really care enough about Big Brother. It's had it's day. Once Channel 5 are done with it,
then I very much doubt we'll ever see BB on British TV again. Even a nostalgic revival in the future would flop badly.

Looking back at the thread archive, the big drop seems to be between BB8 and BB10 - unfortunately the BB9 thread doesn't load, but the BB8 thread has 172 pages whilst the BB10 thread, the year it was axed, only has 21 pages.

Personally I think it became gimmicky from BB6 onwards - the last great series IMO being BB5. The public opinion seems to be the last great series was BB7. After this there was obviously the infamous celebrity series with the racism row, and from then on I don't think the public really views it as anything other than trash quite honestly, although it was still watchable until the C5 series.

I gradually gave up on it by about series 7 or 8 (I can't remember exactly which) but I still do try catch the live launch
shows if I can, although I've hardly bothered with the rest of the coverage like the live feeds on E4 and online over
the last few series made for Channel 4. Since it ewas releaunched on Channel 5, the lack of live feed either on 5*
or on the Channel 5 website makes even less enthused or encouraged to follow the series progress.

Big Brother was an innovative TV experiment in its early days. Now though, it's mostly pointless guff.

I watched a bit of it last night but felt we'd seen it all before. I think its time to put this show to bed now. The three wildcard housemates should have went in over the model clones.

Unfortunately we'll have to suffer the undead corpse for at least two more years.

It's only on Channel 5. It's not like it will get in the way.

Well yeah, but it's part of the shows history, unless you consider the C5 version a different show. Which Wiki doesn't. If it was another format we would forget about it but it takes away from the great early memories of the show on C4.

Channel 5's BB just defines a new era for the show, it doesn't really take anything away from the earlier ones, and it lost its way towards the end of its Channel 4 run anyway. Even by BB7 it was a completely different show to the earlier ones, with BB11 being completely different to BB7 and totally unrecognisable in comparison to BB1-4. It's a show that has continuously evolved and not always for the better but it has completely hit the skids since moving to Channel 5 but noone watches it anymore to realise. At least if it ended on Channel 4 it would have ended on a relative high, Ultimate BB was quite a good series. (I know I contradict myself on a few levels before anyone points it out Laughing).
