If ITV still owns the rights to the property, could it be that we could see Daybreak broadcast from the Big Breakfast cottage during the Games? It would allow time for a full re-fit at South Bank (or even for the South Bank to be rented out to foreign broadcasters) It might also be what's led reporters to get the wrong end of the stick and speculate the return of the show.

Or an even better idea, if ITV own it, shove Daybreak onto Channel 4 and BB onto ITV. Ratings would ceratinly pick up then I think....

Being honest, I suspect the authorities would be annoyed if this transpired, the issue being the increased traffic and spectators on the margins of the Olympic Park. Ambush Marketeers would love it too.

As far as I know ITV own 'The Big Breakfast'. The house itself was sold after the programme finished, the current owners could rent it out for the Olympic period to whoever they wanted

She seems to have flourished a lot as a presenter since her time on The Big Breakfast. Her appearances as a stand - in on something for the weekend recently have shown just this.

NO SECOND CHANCES!

She was annoying on the Big Breakfast because she kept interrupting Richard Bacon when what he had to say was of much more interest.

Planet 24, the production company that made The Big Breakfast for Channel 4, was sold to Carlton, which ultimately
assimilated itself into the corporate behemoth we now know as ITV plc. Essentially, what's left of Planet 24, is part
of ITV. I'd imagine if this revival goes ahead, ITN Productions could use the Planet 24 name for the duration.

As for the House, that was bought several months after the BB ended, complete with fire damage.

I'm thinking about how in the 90's when cheap and cheerful was a bit more common BB could do a lot with the format and be good at it. Now it seems to have a feel of tackiness I can't shake so I'm not sure how you can resurrect the past and expect it to still hit the points it did back then without it being compared. You could copy it piece for piece right down to the nuts and bolts of what made the whole thing work in the 90's and there would be something that would make it feel... off and you might never work out what it is.

Thank you so much for adding this new information to the thread 3 pages in.

It has certainly changed quite a bit. The outside is just about recognisable but the inside could be anywhere. If a programme does appear on Channel 4 or Channel 5 and wants to trade on The Big Breakfast name and house then it would have to come from the garden to gain anything from being in that location.

I somewhat disagree.

The current ultra modern internal layout of Lock Keepers Cottages should mostly remain the same. The way it's all
laid out right now would fit a new Big Breakfast perfectly. The only major physical change I would make would be
to remove the new partition wall in the living room. They wouldn't really need to do much else to make the place "breakfasty" again other than adding a garishly bright and colourful décor to the walls and furnishings.

Oh, and the classic fried egg wallpaper in the kitchen, should they wish to hark back to the early days. At least the
current kitchen is still in the same place it always used to be. The only other major physical change to the interior
would be to refit the sort of lighting and studio equipment the House used to have back in the day.

Bear in mind, during the 9½ years The BB was on, the House went through numerous changes, inside and out.
For those of us that watched The BB for most of it's run, from the Chris & Gaby era onwards, got used to all
the changes over the years, only for most of them to be reversed when they didn't work out as planned.
