Even if somebody (I've read that ITN is behind this idea, which seems an odd name to be involved) does manage to get a show made and broadcast from The Big Breakfast house, it won't be The Big Breakfast. Most of the people involved in The Big Breakfast have moved on to other things. Would they really come back?
I can imagine Rick Adams, Jody Bunting and Donna Air being wacky in front of a cheering but disinterested crew who aren't old enough to remember why The Big Breakfast was good in the 90s.
If The Big Breakfast were to come back, it should be in the form of repeats of the original programme not by tarnishing it's good name with a cheap remake.
Maybe this topic needs a new thread. Maybe a Mod could move these last few posts. I doubt many people interested in quality breakfast television will venture in to the Daybreak thread.

Not sure what to make of this but according to the Sunday Mirror it will be back in time for the Olympics - in the original house next door to the Olympic stadium, either on C4 or C5. They claim ITN Productions have acquired the rights, which seems a bit odd to me. I think though through various acquisitions ITV probably do currently have the rights to the forum.

On the one hand with Daybreak struggling and Breakfast facing changes with the move to Salford it's the perfect time to relaunch it. On the other I'm not sure whether launching to coincide with the Olympics is a great idea or could really backfire.

This has all the hallmarks of a made up story as far as I'm concerned - somebody looking at the Olympic site, seeing that funny bit that hasn't been redeveloped and discovering it's The Big Breakfast house. A little bit of poor quality research revealed that ITN were involved with the original (true - but they weren't the producer).
The rights belonged to Planet 24, who were purchased by Carlton, so it would follow that ITV now hold the rights.
I hope there's truth in it though - there were strong rumours circulating about 5 years ago that Five were ready to commission but could not find a production company willing to take it on (which sounds implausible to me - more like they weren't willing to pay enough!).

Just posted this in the BBC 2012 thread - but thought I may as well stick it here too.
Here's how the house was looking on Fridayhttp://farm8.staticflickr.com/7011/6782980231_a9ac1ef317_z.jpg
Note the big green fence at the back of the garden blocking any kind of view of the stadium. (It might have just been put up for the construction and coming down soon, though.)

Given it's 20 years since it started and 10 since it ended, I'm guessing this is just spin.
It was hugely popular but if it relaunched I'd imagine it would be ruined by too much viewer interaction nonsense, much like it became in it's final years as the presenters weren't popular anymore; C4 struggled with it financially and thus wanting to axe it in favour of more 'Big Brother'-style reality TV instead.
