that's right, i did most of my big breakfast watching between 1996 and 2000 when i lived alone, from what i remember for the 92-96 titles they flew into the house roof for the zig and zag part and through the middle blue door for the opening titles.

somebody told me they used to have a massive clock inside the house but i don't remember ever seeing one

Slightly related. Does anybody remember the titles back at the 1996 relaunch where they dramatically altered the house.

The house was still being finished as they went on air so the first set of titles featured the back of the house instead.

Then for the rest of the week the titles were back at the front, but obviously filmed with a cameraman running along the garden as it was all at ground level.

Yep - they had the big logo on the back wall. Most the titles were online at one point, but I think the site (brekkie.com? - run by Whataday?) has now gone.

It was a shame the 1996 titles were basically the same as the original titles with just a jazzed up theme and obviously the new house - though after a few weeks they changed the end sequence too.

I wish they'd used clips from the break bumpers in the 96 titles, which were basically all British landmarks made out of breakfast items - like the Tyne Bridge becoming a toast rack, a waterfall of orange juice and St Pauls turning into a boiled egg!

One thing about The BIG Breakfast that I always found funny was that at Christmas they almost always went back to the original set of end of part bumpers, despite them featuring the old logo, old music etc!

They had Christmas versions of the 1998-2000 set, though 2000 & 2001 they used the old version. What did they do 96-98?

I wonder why they couldn't be bothered to make Christmas versions of things, I suppose it was too much effort for the one year of Johnny left, and presumebly they would have had to in 2001, if it didn't revert back.

In 1996 the theme tune just got some sleigh bells and the house shot some snow, while the regular break bumpers had a great animation of a snowman morphing into the snowy logo.

1997 and again the new theme (flying breakfast titles) got sleigh bells and the house got some snow, while the break bumpers were the ones introduced earlier in the year but with snowflakes on. 1998 was the same I think.

I think they used the original Xmas break bumpers in 1999 but the new titles, but used the old titles and break bumpers from 2000 - though with updated logos.

Yeah I think you're right. Because they changed the break stings to those Black background ones at somepoint in 1999 didn't they?
