The day after the 1997 election was Sharron Davies' last day. not that I watched it at the time. I'd also abandoned it again by 2001 but I seem to remember it was one of the episodes presented by Chris Moyles, back when they were doing the pilot for the revamped one, and they mostly talked about Big Brother in it as it was in that show's imperial phase. Other than Gaby's self-consciously serious interview in the early days and the odd politician on the bed with Paula I don't recall the show ever discussing the news in any great depth, if at all really.
2001 was pretty much a formality, but obviously 1997 was a very significant moment in UK politics but I suspect given the hosts of the time (either Rick & Sharon or Richard & Denise - things changed around that point!) that little mention was made of it.
