No. IIRC Tuesday and Wednesday's 'The Crunch' was done live. Thurs, Fri, and the following Monday were recorded - but tx'ed as live.

They way you could tell, was a drop in picture quality, as the tape play out machine wasn't exactly 'fresh out the box' in 92,
And as the feature straddle the Phone-in comp, Chris had to run from the garden up to the bathroom, in the live ones, he was usually out of breath and took around 15- 20 secs to arrive, but in the taped ones, he was up there far quicker and not so breathless.

There were times when Monday used to be Crunch pre-record day, plus the odd Thursday as well. Never seemed to be live on a Friday though. I cottoned onto the pre-recs one morning when Chris Evans started a long run back to the house from quite a distance away down the towpath, then when the VT played he just stepped into shot effortlessly a few seconds later.

They did some on Saturdays too. Guess they just did them when they had to.

At 8.40 in this clip, why were they live "all weekend" as Chris Evans is saying?

I'm assuming this comes from New Year's Day 1993 when they did the show live only a few hours after they'd done the live show for New Year's Eve, and Evans was exaggerating how often they were doing programmes that week.

Evans' book talks about pre-recording Zig and Zag, he says they did them every other weekend, and filmed eight at a time, so presumably Zig and Zag would come in from Dublin on a Friday and go home on a Monday. He says that even though they only came over every two weeks, because they were so popular they still got Planet 24 to rent a huge swanky apartment for them in London. That's why sometimes, when Evans was on holiday, they had a different guest presenter doing The Crunch, I remember Tim Vincent doing The Crunch for a week when someone else - Paul Ross? - was standing in for Evans on the rest of the show, presumably Ross couldn't make the pre-records.

Also in the documentary on the final show Zig and Zag make remarks of how Chris lived with them for six months in their apartment.

Indeed, after he split from his wife - and after he spent the first night after the split in Ben The Boffin's bed.

I believe the Dominic in this clip is none other than Dominic Wood - better known as one half of Dick & Dom!

Is the infamous Eggs Legs on Tour where a crew member got hurt?

The roadshow seems to have pretty much disappeared now from TV and radio which is a huge shame. Obviously Radio 1 did them for the best part of three decades, while The Big Breakfast did two Eggs on Legs tours followed by a scaled down (but longer) tour with The Bigger Breakfast in 1997. I can't imagine any show nowadays going on the road for multiple shows in the summer.

No - ratings die during the summer traditionally.

The One Show has experimented with doing one-off shows from OB locations (The One Show summer festivals), and did weeks on the road for Children in Need in 2012 and 2013, and the Glasgow-based shows for the run-up to the Commonwealth Games. Not the same but probably the nearest any show has come recently?

Maybe The One Show ought to give a summer roadshow a try this year. Some of their OB's tend to attract a decent sized crowd, so I think if done properly, with carefully selected venues, I reckon a One Show summer roadshow could work.

The One Show usually takes a break over the summer period for 2 or 3 weeks, and drops to all 30 minute episodes. The big One Show Roadshow OBs have been 60 minute shows - presumably to make the money work? (The Children in Need on-the-road shows were smaller scale)

With shows across the BBC facing budget cuts, and with ratings lower in the summer, I suspect it is unlikely.

No. That happened the following year when Keith and Zoe were presenting at the house.
