We have previously discussed the similarity of The BB's theme to a certain 60's song. This morning I found an instrumental of a track called The Stars by Javelin, which samples Then He Kissed Me (although NME seriously assumed they were sampling The BB theme tune when they reviewed the album - that's how I found the track!)

Anyway I edited it, and I think it goes quite well with the 2001 titles (with certain bits sped up/slowed down):

Nice work whataday.
I still think that what they planned back in 2001 was to create a brand new programme whilst retaining the old programme. The problem was that the majority of viewers were fans of the programme and didn't want it to change.

From Decemember 1996, the opening titles and first few moments of the show with the proper fly-in sequence:

Yes this is where I took the theme for one of my mocks.

Did they not use a Christmas theme in 1996?

Had Rick & Sharon already finished for Christmas at this point?

That version of the theme tune was a lovely evolution of the original, and it's a shame that it was very short lived. I know that earlier in the thread it was said that they kept the original parts to keep them familiar to the audience, but does anybody wonder if the teem was designed to use the break sting idea? It would have been apt to use the st.paul's egg cup image replacing the train station.

If you have 51 minutes to spare then you might be interested in this interview that Johnny Vaughan did when Friends came to London in 1998:

It looks like the E20 Fishing Club have been the recent occupants of Old Ford Lock and the "The Canal and River Trust are attempting to evict us from their premise at lock cottage, old ford lock, dace road, London E32NN"

http://e20fishingclub.org/

The article makes interesting reading too as it mentions that the river and canal trust agreed to sell the property to the fishing club after securing funding but they went back on their word and gave them two months to leave from the 1st June.

I'm guessing that's the small building at the side of the garden?

The article mentions Lock Cottage which i assume they're renting/using space in the house as well. They also have a cafe in what was the former toilets.

From reading everything it seems to me it's a property that faces the tow path, probably within the grounds of Lock Cottage.

Yes, definitely this building:

They wouldn't need anything more than that.

Richard and Denise hosted that week (Rick's first week off, Sharon had already had a week off a few weeks earlier), with Rick and Sharron returning the week after. Possible the theme got a few sleighbells that week, but not the graphics unlike the original theme. The break stings though had a fairly decent animated snowman morphing into the logo.

And that theme has aged really well IMO, probably better than the original and arguably even those that followed.
