That footage of the fly-in is the best out of all of them I think (although the yellow house is a second favourite of mine due to the bright blue sky).
I wonder if any clean footage of the house intros/outros still exist? They obviously did for them to make that montage of all the houses in 2001.
It's the sort of thing they would keep to one side along with things like bloopers and titles/break stings.
I think with the Christmas 2000 edit of the titles, they must have had fairly clean footage as they were able to put the 2000 font saying "Back Soon" etc over the break stings. Also when the mince pies are revealed in the titles, in the original 1992 version the logo is underneath the lid, but it's not there in the 2000 version.
However when they reused them again in 2001, I think they just went back to the 2000 version and cut the new logo in at the end, because they don't even get to the point where the lid is lifted before the logo fades in. They also use the 2000 font over the break stings.
Here is the bit where they explain that everyone (Johnny Vaughan, Denise Van Outen, Richard Bacon and Noel Edmonds etc.) is OK...

I'd like to see what the reaction on the show was. Did they go back to the house and do something wacky even though someone could have died? I assume they would have lost talkback too.
Strange that you've posted that. I was going to post it this evening but wasn't sure about this thread becoming too video-heavy. According to the comments the off air feed was apparently recorded by a member of the public that hacked into it.
Absolutely no chemistry between Mark Little and Zoe Ball in that clip. She was the perfect Gaby replacement but they lumbered her with him. If only they'd screentested Jamie Theakston... it could have been a whole different story.
Anyway, back to my silly little montage, it does work a lot better if you leave out the crappy relaunches:

Bit superficial, but Mark looked a bit rough by this stage in his BB career. Just over 2 years of early starts for 3 - 5 days a week had left him chubbier and less fresh-faced than when he started.
I'd love to see a full later edition with Mark and Zoe and see how they got on with each other. There was a facebook group ages ago called "I worked on The Big Breakfast" which various members of the crew had joined to talk about the show. There were some rare pictures of people in the offices and in the house and a crew picture from 1996 where Mark and Zoe were on separate sides of the room.

Was it ever apparent on air that they didn't get on? I was on the show in Feb '96 and never picked up on any tension.
That was very early into their run though. They of course had to be professional on screen, but I think apart from at the French windows they rarely did things together - although that wasn't really uncommon in the early years - Gaby and Chris did far less together than Johny and Denise. The most noticeable thing probably was that Zoe seemed to have a bigger role than Gaby did, notably fronting the competitions - previously Gaby had done the 7.30 one and Mark the flagship 8.30 comp.
I think from all the snippets posted about the impending relaunch it's quite obvious they were grooming Zoe to be the face of the show and Mark for the exit - so it's no surprise there would be some resentment there on Marks part at least.
