This is of course mentioned in Morning Glory. It was in, I think, September 1995 and the show was trying to raise money for, I seem to recall, Breakthrough Breast Cancer. I can't remember the exact nature of the event or why they were doing it, but as mentioned, they did have a target to reach which they weren't going to reach by 9am. I can tell you exactly what it ended up replacing, a repeat of the crap quiz Sabotage...

There were no live shows after it and there were no schools programmes so they could presumably have gone on all morning if they wanted.
they carried on because Johnny Depp turned up at the house to be interviewed. He was dating Kate Moss at the time, who had herself been a guest earlier on in the show, and got him to turn up
That's pretty enlightening. Morning Glory and OffTheTelly would have this set in history as The BB not hitting a fundraising target, when obviously it's because Johnny Depp was on his way over. With a postal address, there was obviously no target to hit that morning.
OffTheTelly had very little time for The BB post-Evans.
(Is it just me that giggled at Lily's face at the end? Either bored out of her mind or peeved at having to work an extra half hour. Probably both)

OffTheTelly and Steve Williams remember it has being for a different charity too. Maybe they extended the show more than once (not including the infamous first edition on Wonga). It is interesting to see that they were as celebrity obsessed in the early years too. I used to hate it when Vaughan or Bacon were in full flow and had to end an interesting item so that they could play out Snap, Cackle and Pop or something equally as irrelevant to the rest of the programme.
My least favourite titles. What on earth possessed them?
I quite like the longer version of the 2001 re-launch theme. When they first launched (i was in my mid teens) and i thought the bloke standing next to the bus stop looked like John Major!
Some footage of Kelly Brook on the show singing the Friday Song:
The crowd appears to be better here too. Plus my favorite version of the hallway.
