The videos still don't work on my Android tablet. They still give error messages. I can't see them on the PC after waiting a bit though.

I really liked that new area between the living room and the phone room that was launched that September. Such a shame that look was only given a few months before the revamp.

Didn't Johnny and Denise return on the Wednesday?

It was Richard and Lisa for most of that week after Johnny hurt his back, then 15 minutes of Richard the following Monday as part of the build up to Johnny and Denise's return.

I think she does a really good job hosting on her own actually.

Didn't Rick Adams fly solo one morning?

He did, and quite early on in his reign of terror as well, I think. Sharron Davies fell ill at the last minute and so Adams did the whole thing on his own, it got in the papers and everything.

Sharron Davies, as well as being a truly awful presenter, was frequently absent. I remember one episode where the OB was from the Cheltenham Festival and Sharron was there, but she only appeared at 7am, and then again at 8am, very much as if she was there for her own pleasure rather than to actually do the show. Although towards the end of her spell, I think some of her absences were because the production team were trying to phase her out, in Morning Glory they mention how Ruth Wrigley's first job when she took over as editor in 1997 was to increase the pre-recorded content because Sharron and Rick together live were so boring.

Morning Glory's a brilliant book.

Was this set up just for that bit or would the news have always come from there?

It wasn't too long after that they introduced the purple news background and yellow fake TV with even weirder 2 cameras which was soon dropped.

As for the decorating, looking at the clips you're right, the Bigger Breakfast must not have been upstairs until 1999, possibly the summer. Didn't they used to use the proper chairs, and then for a short time I remember some chairs that resembled egg cups were used at the bottom of the stairs in front of the door. I remember the end of a Vaughan fronte show where they linked up via the screen in the lounge despite them being positioned through the door on the left.

It moved about a bit once it became a separate show - don't think the egg cups in the hall lasted too long. They had chairs at the opposite french windows to the main show for a while and eventually moved upstairs but I think that was quite late in the shows life - possibly after Dermot had left as I don't really recall him hosting upstairs. Most of the summer shows were hosted outdoors, a practice the main show pretty much abandoned once Johnny arrived.

Linton comes across as his obnoxious self rather than act supportive.

Such a mish-mash of graphics there. What titles were being used for that episode, as they are using cue cards with the 'b' logo and the news background is still in use with the lower case 'the big breakfast' logo, but the house and clock suggest the changes back to the old style have occured.

Also on the subject of that, what did they due during the refurb of the house back to the old style, or was it a weekender job?

I'd have thought they'd have managed it over a weekend considering there wasn't anything structural - they effectively get three whole days to redecorate and move a bit of furniture. Indeed I suspect with the 1996 revamp at least they probably didn't have much longer for the painting and finishing than that anyway.

I think the BB News was done from the Channel 4 News studio.

They we're still using the 2001 relaunch titles by this point.

The new clock and graphics were introduced on the week of the 4th June 2001 and they moved to the chairs to the back of the house the week later.
