IIRC Vanessa only did Monday to Thursday so in theory he was probably taking her airtime on Fridays though in practice he was doing way more than that.

I think Rick did it rather than Richard but when they first bought back a competition, suitably named It's All Gone Pear Shaped, I think that was only on Fridays too.

Anyone else singing along to "Beat the Banger" during the British Gas ads?

Didn't that jingle get re-recorded because one of the words sounded rude?

A clip of Rick Adams on what appears to be his last week as he says "Before I leave the house on Friday" Did he get some sort of send off or was it just a standard goodbye?

I'd forgot they kicked him out of the house for his last few weeks.

So odd to see Rick hosting with the 97 music.

He didn't get much of a goodbye. On his last day he handed to Vanessa who wished him well and said it had been an absolute pleasure working with him.

It's not like he had many best bits. Only thing I really remember is him trying to shake hands with a blind man.

I was scrolling the former 'the brekkie' website and found some transcripts of the Friday song from November - December 1999.
This one from the 31st December 1999 interests me: https://web.archive.org/web/20001209011100/http://www.thebrekkie.co.uk/archives/f311299.htm
Could this be a fan written one or is it genuine?

Doesn't feel genuine.

I think the “Due to time the next 997 years were skipped” joke is lifted from the show - I.e. They initially pretended they were going to do all 1000 years but stopped after 1000 and “skipped” forward to 1999.

I wish we had more Friday songs transcribed - they were quite a good and fun reminder of the big news at the time!
