Richard and Denise are here in this clip from the 12th December 1996. Looks like they've finally updated the title sequence!

I didn't realise the 8am version of these titles were so badly edited. They cut out the Pushy Mum reference and added the paper boy, and there's a jarring audio cut. Also the titles aren't in sync at the end.

The late Keith Chegwin in that too, just to remind us who we've lost over the last 20 years.

The Big Breakfast from 1993 making an appearance on Daves' Meet the Richardsons with Lucy (supposedly) designing the fountain that was behind the French Windows in the early years.

It's true:

The fountain was used in quite a bit of merchandising in the early days. I had a bubble bath bottle in the shape of it, and I remember seeing a huge cardboard cutout of it in WHSmith (possibly to promote the VHS?).

What would be Chris's penultimate week going by the end. He says he's off for three weeks then back at the end of September for his final week.

A seemingly random episode but loads of snippets to enjoy, notably the casting plea to EasEnders to hire Batbara Windsor behind the bar.

Also presumably the prelude to Zig and Zag moving to the box room and Find Me a Model 3 years before it became an annual feature.

The C4 breakfast breakbumper is something I don't recall either.

Any idea who was the voice of Snap, Cackle and Pop in the early years?

It was Gaby going off for three weeks, not Chris. Seems to be the tail end of summer with no Paula and an extra Crunch in the last half hour, plus Snap and the competition later than usual.

I think it might have been Phil Edgar-Jones, now Controller of Sky Arts but in those days a producer and occasional presenter, he was the original host of Moviewatch before Johnny Vaughan.

You can see Cheggers is on holiday that week and his replacement is David Dixon, formerly of the band Bad Boys Inc.
