So. We've had the BBC One new look in October and BBC Two's new idents are nearly here. But what can we expect? Will the channel recieve a custom font? or a new logo? And what about the other channels (Three, Four, News 24 & parliament) will they get new logos, idents etc. The BBC seem to be getting into the habbit of experimenting with logos right before a change. For example: BBC One's "The Sea" season and BBC four's logo now being dropped into a glass!

Weve also seen a purple BBC TWO now next and later menu featuring a giant purple '2' and the purple astons:

And tonight, over on BBC3, i saw a different now next and later animation. instead of the regular 3d box it featured a magnetised blob pulling in the words now next and later and other random metal objects. the program names were obviously superimposed on top of it. i think its great that the BBC are experimenting more with symbols/trails esp. BBC2 who usually have a pretty boring trail style. i think it is a case of 1 last horrah before BBC2+3 are rebranded. i think BBC4 will get a new logo, similar to that of BBC1's but there idents will remain the same as they are quite new.
the magnetised BBC Three blob has been around for a little while too - it was launched back in November - along with other versions where the blob sneezes, producing the times and wording for the programmes - along with another one where the blob 'blows up'. I don't think all the BBC channels will be changing... I think there will just be a new look for BBC Two.
It may just be me, but this image reminds me so much of Powder. I can just imagine that 2 falling into a big pile of purple powder. Come to think of it, that'd be quite a nice ident.

Believe it or not, I think someone said that before! So you're not the only one to have noticed a likeness there.
It would be great to see these new BBC 2 symbols have some real impact, something that shows great promise and flexibility to bring it on par with the quality of Channel 4's branding. However, I'm not getting my hopes up as generally channels seem to be now be churning out much weaker stuff then they did as little as 5 years or so ago.

Those blobs have been around A LOT longer than 2 months. BBC3 needs some kind of refresh, I think the whole 3D idea is becoming boring and dated
