As somebody who doesn't want to see images in signatures, so has them turned off, what I object to greatly are people like Mr Snowden who insist on putting them in the post, rather than the in the signature area, thus making me have to scroll past them.

Dear oh dear, I have run you all up the wrong way this evening... perhaps the Sunday night crowd on here are just plain moaners... (except isonstine and phil)... yes, that must be it.

Please do not mention my name Mr Harvey unless you can spell it correctly - it insults me.

No, we're not all moaners, Mr Spewdon, we just like the guidelines on signature images to be followed correctly.

Mr H, I apologise, I was sure I saw several other sigs similar to mine, but never mind I won't rattle you again with it.

I'm also sure that blatant advertising of ones own Web site is also mentioned somewhere in the mentioned guidelines... regardless of how ugly and pointless it is.

Oh and thanks for help taking this thread way off topic.

Shame I don't consider your comments important enough to correct the typo ...

That's fine by me. If you're okay with looking like an illiterate Muppet ...? Good, then that's sorted.

OK, back "On Topic" (god I sound like Alan Partridge or something - ah, what the hell, CUE JINGLE)...

The size of the BBC could be measured in several different ways.

Output hours (not sure off the top of my head)

Number of staff (on any day there are 40,000 people working for The Beeb)

Revenue (I believe it to be about £2.2billion)

...and then of course it depends if you're counting radio as well as TV (if comparing to ITV of course you shouldn't)

However, not sure how this compares to other countires I'm afrid.

That's absolutely incorrect - the total staff, including freelancers, is just over 20,000. And they don't all work on the same day. Oh no! I'm on my hols next week, so that's 19,999 working - and me posting plenty here and bugging you lot :-p

I think, if you bother to read the guidelines, which thus far you obviously haven't, you'll find that advertising one's own website is perfectly acceptable, providing it is contained within the text (and link) in one's own signature, Mr Spewup.

I am far from illterate, it's just a typo that I cannot be bothered to change. We all make them don't we? I'm sorry but regardless about what you say, you ruined a perfectly good thread with irrelevant comments about a signature. I retorted, you did to, lets close this arguing now, I have removed the sig at your and Nick's request.

Well I was told 30,000 staff plus around 10,000 freelancers.

That total includes all TV/Radio/Online/World emplyees AFAIK...

That's definately the figure that I heard quoted during The Big Conversation
