BB
I was wondering this...
How big is the BBC compared with European media?
I ask because I heard (during the Carlton/Granada merger talk by the two bosses) that ITV, once GMG and Carltyon have merged, will become the largest commercial broadcaster in Europe (source: Carlton Chairman Michael Green, Central News West).
Now we all know that the BBC dwarfs ITV is terms of size (budget, range of output, etc)... so does this mean that it is safe to say that the BBC is undoubtedly the largest broadcaster or even media group in Europe? (AFAIK, public broadcasters in Europe aren't as favoured as here so I assume there aren't any as big as the BBC?)
Does anyone have a league/list of the largest broadcasters in Europe, commercial or otherwise? Does the BBC top it?
And what about the BBC's size in comparison with the US networks?
