I must admit I'm starting to watch this channel far more than I should be. It's usually best at this time when the presenters are a little more over the top. Anyone for "long-life.tv" as has just been suggested by the presenter!

Anyway, seems they're having real gremlins - trail machine has gone into overdrive, many showing the old set. We had the usual trails then the guy live saying they're trying to sort out the last auction's valid bids and we're now into a mass of trails.

They've been having a fair few gremlins lately - sometimes as they're walking over to the item, usually during the auction and normally they just go to the next bid, so there must be a big problem going on tonight.

Cheers, Asa

Glad to see my mental conversion powers finally worked! Razz
bid-up has had quite serious tech. problems lately (lately being about 3 months)
Luckily enough for the hardcore fans (aka shoppingtelly.com visitors) the "more live auctions coming soon" set frequently show "Silly Simon" and "Learn to bid-up with Hazel in 30 seconds"
What they're doing is quite flaky stuff - ie. syncing a phone system with rather complicated tv graphics and of course the website. One element needs to go wrong for the auction needing to be declared void (ITC thing I guess) which can cause some serious delays...and of course for them a backlog of auctions - each only being schechuled for 7 minutes.
Ah well, just let us know who your fav is!
Recommending watching the 10pm-1am slot - Peter Simon/Andy Hodgson feat. Jen Harrison can be interesting viewing

Sorry to ramble...it's just a slight interest, tis all.

Don't think it's been mentioned here but their sister channel Price Drop has extended its hours as of (I think) this week

Can anyone tell me of just one shop in the country that:

a) Sells those tacky gemstone globes (so tacky even a drug dealer wouldn't have one of those in his house - I don't mean to sound snobby but they are so like something you'd get a Sunday Market.)

b) Sells them for the "Guide" of £2500

Plus does any shop sell the "Polo Beverley Hills" or "Amedus" watches brands. I have never heard of them, and can't see how an "Amedus" watch has a guide of £600.

Oh yes I agree with that about the globes completely. They are available in 3 different sizes you know, it's fascintating listening to Peter Simon go through all those "precious and semi precious stones" on the globe.

Although if you ever catch Auctionworld.tv (spit) throughout the night, they have this recorded loop of "Buy it Now", which allows you to instantly purchase your gemstone globe at their special price. They must have warehouses full of them. And they must be adorning many a window ledge in council houses up and down the country Laughing

Bid-up and Price-drop are both absolutely priceless! Don't worry Asa - you're not the only one to find it compelling viewing. I think that says more about the pap that's on other channels at the moment than it does about us, though...

Both the channels are fast-paced, lively and spontaneous, which is more than can be said about a lot of channels' output at the mo! I really admire the presenters, actually - it can't be easy to adlib for as long as they do - especially when no-one's calling in.

Absolutely.

Close up shot of assitant and back to presenter.
Presenter: "Ohh, I loved that face you just pulled."
Assistant: "Which one?"
Presenter: "The vacant one"

It can't be that easy to genuinely keep going in however long their shifts are. I love the honesty - "You're getting these at a great price, come on, buy one and flog it as new when you get it!" and AFAIK the only shopping channel to do a credits sequence at the end of the night - that's class. Very Happy

Oh yes, Andy Hodgson loves closing with his "list of stars", however I do miss the hammer going to bed on the old closing titles.

One thing that we have not heard much of is Peter Simon's worms. He must have got cured of his itch.

Some of the funniest things I have seen on tv have been from that channel though. (Doesn't say alot for the state of British Comedy) Plus, its technical value is equally as good being as it is in widescreen and like someone said, the credit sequence. I personally prefer Mike Mason and C.J's sign off with the nightfever stance.

I do have a classic Peter Simon moment captured from Bid-up actually, when he fell of the podium and landed flat on his face during speed auctions if anyone wants it?
