Beautiful! Were the titles any good?

the titles were ok, the music was the worst of the looks they had in the 1990s, the early 90s and mid 90s themes were better

You still have the map titles up there don't you for Reporting Scotland? Am I right in thinking that these titles did have a slight revamp with slightly different music?

An observation.....

Just what is making Peter and Paul so goggle-eyed in this picture?

EDIT - the one that's bottom left....

The biggest problem with the corporate look is that it is badly implemented. They seriously need to invest in decent systems to produce graphics etc as they currently look really cheap and shoddily put together. Compare them with ITV regional news, which always looks slick, and you'll see what I mean.

Also, the fact that there is nothing really about the regional look that is specific to each region annoys me. The shots in the titles are so obscure that they could be used for any region. They look like they have just shoved the name of the programme at the end of some random clips.

Studio-wise, some look OK, but the cream really looks dated now and could do with a refresh. South Today have got a very nice studio, I'm hoping that this is a new style to be implemented throughout the regions.

I've always said that the corporate look seems as if it has been designed by somebody with absolutely no creative flair. Titles written in white, plain Gill Sans, plain astons... all of this screams out to me *cheap*.

I'd agree that the early 90's LN themes were better, TV-Ark has several versions, the 1993 version was ok, although the continuity announcer on the clip is a bit dodgy (who is he anyway? Laughing ) I like the 1995 version, but I'm sure there was a longer version of those titles...

Some regions do use the same pictures don't they. i.e. the basket ball players on South Today / Midlands Today and the vegetable pickers on East Midlands Today / Look North Hull.

I would like Midlands Today to nick South Today's ice cream van.

Are there any others???

Apart from the Look North Hull clip (pan-regional at lunchtime) of the people at the foot of the Hessle Tower of the Humber Bridge....

How come Katherine, you see Look North and Central West?

OK - here's how, and it proves nothing in my life is straightforward!!

My analogue regional default (strongest transmitter) is Belmont. Look North Hull is the regional programme transmitted on it.

When I got Sky installed in December 2001, the man who installed it was probably briefed by his boss to install Midlands news, as Boston's an East Midlands town economically and politically. As Central News East is not available on DSAT, he defaulted channel 103 to the sole Midlands news provider available, which was Central West.

When the BBC regions became freely available on Sky, I got BBC East Midlands on 101, again probably due to Sky's Boston branch being told we're East Midlands!!

It's a bit of a 'split personality' setup....
