This is what Look North Breakfasts look like, Clare is making the show her own but Peter Levy was better. Also we might not have the kay's information system but we have our own weather forecaster (in the main studio this pic is when she was standing in on the main prog). (from TV Room)

And I was mentioning those big window screens, notice poor screen in main desk, better screen in soft set

Note that the TV Room picked a non-standard day to do the captures!

NWT comes from their awful self-op studio, used at Breakfasts and some weekends, as they have the awful computetrised background, you hear tons of thumps when they opt-out (The same also happens at Leeds apparently), but I think the benfit of the self-op studio is that the chair seems to be more comfier than the one in the proper NWT studio.

Can I just say I am *most* upset that North West Today has now decided to turn professional and got a director in so they can use the main studio. A nice NWT sting and sideways angle into a lovely perky "good morning!" from a now hands-free Tina, is just so.. professional. It's really not on at all.

I want the fuzzy outline, button clunking, mistimed opting-out, manually moving the camera, heavy breathing over poor microphone output, broom cupboard dust-inducing coughing fits -- all to come back. Tut, how dare BBC Manchester go all slick like this. Here's hoping Tina still finds some way to break it.

Anyway, what's worse is if you compare the old studio to the new Hull one, it's like from the sublime to the ridiculous

Well it's at least bigger than the CSO broomcupboard that Hull had before Hull's fully-seperate 1830 edition came to be. Although why Hull extended to a fuller service whilst still very short on space is beyond me. Rolling Eyes

Why not stay as just a short opt-out within the 1830 edition (plus the whole 2225 edition, of course) until they're in a building big enough for a full size studio? Then Look North Hull would look reasonable from the outset, rather than looking sh*t initially, then getting a decent studio months after launch. Rolling Eyes

Some more pictures of the pre-corporate Look North desk, look at those camera angles, particularly the top right one there, and yes Paul used to sit at the desk to do the weather

Beautiful! Were the titles any good?

BBC Reporting Scotland's set has became very dated. I really think it should have been changed when the BBC English Regions were revamped.

I wonder if anybody thinks the corporate look actually actually improved the look of a regional programme?

I do like Reporting Scotland's bulletin studio. Colourful.

I think the corp. make-over did improve the presentation, however it is badly needing a change!
