Don't worry, I can get a fizzy Anglia News picture. I don't like the set though.

Just written the following to Nick Owen at Midlands Today:
Dear Nick,
I am writing with regard to the above. I am a 24 year old currently living in the BBC Look North region (Boston in Lincolnshire), receiving their new Hull sub-opt service for East Yorkshire and Lincolnshire. Some time next year, this area of the Look North region will be receiving its own regional programming via the Belmont transmitter, while viewers receiving Look North from the Emley Moor transmitter will continue to receive Harry Gration and Christa Ackroyd. I have been somewhat saddened by this, as I have grown to love the programme immensely. I was upset to learn that I would no longer have the chance to swoon every day at Look North's weather presenter Paul Hudson (Hud the Stud, you'd get on well with him!) and enjoy the banter between himself and newsreader Peter Levy at lunchtimes. The banter is so popular, it has achieved 'cult' status among the student population of the region!
However, today has changed all that! With the news that Greg Dyke plans to eventually put all regional news programming on digital television, and BBC Leeds will be, with Midlands Today, one of the first to be put on this service (others being LDN London, South Today and North West Tonight), I am simply thrilled to bits that my long-term viewing of Hud the Stud, Peter Levy, Christa Ackroyd and Harry Gration after the establishment of the new East Yorkshire/Lincolnshire region is now secure as I will be getting digital television around about Christmas time. It also means that very soon, I will be able to watch Midlands Today too, without having to move to the region to see it!
I am a contributor to a television presentation discussion forum (www.tvforum.co.uk) and this has a sizeable Midlands Today viewership contributing to it. They have told us many things about news 'Chez Birmingham Way', about the banter between yourself and the other presenters and other things besides. I have often wondered what exactly I'm missing, living as I do well outside the region. With this news today, I am very happy indeed that I will have the chance to see and hear the banter and reports for myself! How does Shefali Oza compare to Paul Hudson? How do you compare to Harry Gration? How does Sue Beardsmore compare with Christa Ackroyd? I am looking forward immensely to discovering the answers to these questions very soon! Before I go, when I found out you were a newsreader on Midlands Today, I was pleasantly surprised. I used to see you with Anne Diamond on 'Good Morning' on the BBC if I was ill and off schoool. I've often wondered what became of you after that, and I am glad to see you're still getting work. I can't wait to catch up with your career when this new digital service starts next year!
Wishing you all the best from Boston,
Yours expectantly,
Miss Katherine Emma Birkett.
