I think that, as 'I HATE HTV WEST' has said, that Points West from BBC West in Bristol is officially the most popular BBC regional news programme, as it routinely gets the highest audience share of any BBC regional 1830 programme.

I believe that Spotlight from BBC South West in Plymouth also does very well against Westcountry Live, and that - believe it or not - Newsroom SouthEast as was also used to beat London Tonight... However I think it failed quite badly against Meridian News from Maidstone in the Kent/East Sussex area, hence the forming of BBC South East Today from Tunbridge Wells.

Look East used to be beaten by Anglia News but the since the sub-opt from Cambridge the West of the patch has consistently outrated Anglia News West, though I think the East of the patch is much more closely in competition with Anglia News East.

It is possible for the broadcasters to commission viewing figures on a transmitter by transmitter basis apparently - so they can see how BBC regions which are split differently to their ITV counterparts fair in the differing overlap areas.

I must say that I really enjoyed Spot Light when I was on holiday in July. Great presenters and presentation!

Spotlight is also good. Teresa Driscoll is pleasant, though Justin Leigh is sort of quiet. And I think the name is brilliant... 'Spotlight'. I think it's the most original name out of the BBC pack.

In the 1960s and 70s it was known as Spotlight South West. I wonder why they dropped the South West bit... Confused

Actually I'd disagree with your figures! Lies, damn lies and statistics - but Look East does not consistantly outrate ANW. Anyway split viewing figures are kept closely guarded....

Points west- are you mad.

I'm not sure. I have see most of the BBC Regions and think that East is good for jokes, Southwest for presentation and Newslin for good news and info.

Winner- Look East

I like the way Julie the weather women messes up her words!

There.

Central News

I also like the new view of Birmingham in Midlands Todayon BBC1!

Midlands Today, becuase I didnt even know when Central News was on until they did all that fuss when they were changing the news around on ITV. Then again I didnt know when ITV's was either. Plus Central News at Six kinda clashes with the BBC News.

When was it on anyway?

(For cool music I'd go for BBC LDN though)

SPOTLIGHT? That is a BAD show!Shocked Sad

I just think it's pretty pathetic really. No 'Pizzaz' no uniqe style, nothing that makes it 'different' from any other places. You're only saying that because you don't like your OWN local news!

The only thing I admire and like about it is Craig Rich. I can't connect with Spotlight!Sad

Sorry,rant over.

It's got to be BBC LDN - it's brought out a whole new side of the BBC.

'In the last three years, North West Tonight has won more awards than any other regional programme'. That is what BBC NW are using to promote North West Tonight, and it's true. It is the best regional programme, right mixture of everything.
BB
BBC News 24
Reporting Scotland. Professional and Informative. With the occasional FUNNY joke. Non of the jokes they try in some english regions.
