Jeremy Thompson is by far one of the best all-round news anchors on television and particularly good on location (Pope in Israel & Kosovo being notable examples) Followed Simon McCoy (for his humour). Then, Huw Edwards - for his voice - it makes a change!
Although he didn't get my vote, I really like John Suchet. He seems like a really nice guy, although Cheshirec will probably tell me he is very
pro-Tory.
Actually what I was going to do was quote Billy Hicks and then reply with:
'You didn't see the smile on his face during ITN Election 92'
That was one of the worst TV moments ever, Jon Snow looked at him in utter horror.
Get Jon back on election night ITN, please!

If Jon didn't suit the Channel 4 News bulletin so well I'd move him back to ITV. But I totally agree with Cheshirec Jon should be back on election watch, I haven't seen this '92 election episode with John Suchet - what happened?
Anyway my dream team for election coverage would be...
Main anchors - Jon Snow & Julia Somerville
Graphics guy - Peter Snow (who else?!)
Experts - Tony King, Bob Worcester and Alison Steadman (I think that was her name she was on the beeb last time she's from some social research institute and hardly got a look in on the night!)
Interviewer - Jeremy Paxman (of course!)
I can't think of any other major positions I've missed... please note there are NO Dimblebys in my team, they are good interviewers but I find that they hog the show a bit and they seem a bit superior and my view is that just because their dad did their job doesn't mean they should get it too.

Mark Austin - ITN Newscaster and ITV's On Location Survivor Presenter. He's great, but the other day when presenting news he was a bit brown. I'm so jealous!
