Moira Stewart without a doubt. She's the first woman i remember on TV.
Remember her BIG hair from 10 years ago.

who's the best male news presenter though?
Oh God, why am I even asking? You're all going to say it's Huw Edwards... how silly of me.
Of course in reality Bob Friend knocks them all dead.

I think Michael Buerk is the best 'main' news presenter and I agree with you Chesh - Bob Friend is the best 24 hour news presenter (hope he's back tomorrow!)

I think Jon Snow is the best male newsreader closely followed by Alastair Stewart.

I didn't vote for her but Fiona Bruce seems really nice and she's been really helpful with stuff I've been asking her - I've been in e-mail contact with her for a bit now and she always comes across as friendly and willing to help!

What about Anna Ford -she's been around for ages - and she's my absolute favourite- she has such a soothing voice

btw - is it her voice that does the computerised countdown in the gallery??

No, it's Fiona Bruce's voice that does the computerised countdown out of reports and the programme in the gallery.

Don't think it's in that documentary - but it has been mentioned around here before... the main N6 gallery used Fiona Bruce's voice (the day I was there she was presenting and counting herself out of the reports!) but News24 used a digital voice - but apparently the main news presenters wanted a familiar, more normal voice!

I like Anna Ford too -- she has a very nice, soothing, authoritive, news-presenter type voice. I hope they don't kick her off the One anytime soon, they seem to be favoring the younger presenters (but almost all news networks do anyway). I have to admit that she kinda seems a little snooty, but not a lot and it doesn't really bother me. I think she knows waht she's talking about and I think she seems pretty nice, I don't think she takes much crap from anyone though -- just my observation.

Yeah, I agree. Although there are sometimes more problems with the One, Anna is best suited to it because she is one of the most experienced journalists to do the 'live' nature of the programme with interviews with non-correspondents who can't be told to shut up by the programme director!
George Alagiah is not as good at doing it - often just talking over the interviewee to shut them up. Anna always seems to end it normally which must take greay skill.
