Not the first time, because the intriguing thing about ITV1 ECPs back in 2001 is that they didn't apply to ITV2 as a rule. If they ever appeared on an ITV2 show it was because it was a repeat of an ITV1 show.
Pretty sure this was addressed with the 2002 rebrand though.

That's the old credits background from the rebrand. That was bizarre because it was designed to match the main ITV brand but didn't match any of the four channel's presentation.

I'm guessing it's to keep off the itv.com URL off the screen for as long as possible.
STV's ECP is actually pointless. Shrink the credits to an unreadable size, for what? A website address?! If they were showing a promo like in the USA I could understand, but that's just unnecessary. They could at least adapt to ITV's style like UTV have done, and *overlay* their promotion.

That would make sense it it was only the itv.com URL, but on Corrie & Emmerdale a least they have the stv.tv and u.tv ones too!
The 3 parties must of come to an agreement to show the 3 websites as didn't it used to be just the itv.com URL and stv overlaying it afterwards?

From the very beginning of that clip though it looks like they've changed it recently from "s.tv itv.com u.tv" to "s.tv itv.com/coronationstreet u.tv", which may be the reasoning behind them having their own Coronation Street website URL on screen.
Surely they could just cover the bottom of that with their own URL though, it's not hard, especially with a static white-on-black background.

I agree, although I think C4s ECPs have worsened with time. When the new logo/idents first appeared there were 2 versions - one which occupied a third to fit recent programming, another which used half. Both versions would stay on screen until the end then animate in to the 4 logo on the end board (neatly covering up the box in the 1/3 version).
Now the only programme that seems to carry the 4 logo at the end is Channel 4 News.
To me it's C4 who've had this right since day one by allowing designers to have whatever style and animation they like providing they stick to the left hand side. I always think credits should match the titles/graphics used in the programme rather than a generic one, a la ITV (although at least the black background is so generic it doesn't belong to a particular era)
Still, it's nice to see programmes occasionally get away without the rules - Lee Mack's Saturday night show being one of the latest ones where they scoll at the bottom over the end of the song. I guess because it's only the news that follows.

Or just not having a URL on them at all, and allow ITV1, STV and UTV to have their own addresses on the ECP...?
Surely, that would make more sense?
What about having a central 'coronationstreet.co.uk' that then links you to the three websites?

This would mean that the itv.com (and the other two URLs) would not appear when the programme is repeated on other channels.
On that subject, I notice that Sky blur out the itv.com URL during the credits on Club Reps when it is shown on Pick TV but leave it unblurred when they show Lilly Savage's Blankety Blank on Challenge. I hope someone finds this observation of interest.
That is the other problem with generic credits of course. They often look awful when shown on other channels (or even the original channel after a rebrand) with a different ECP design.
