In my opinion, Only Fools And Horses is the best comedy ever to be made!

Not much choice is there?!

Comparing the 2 in endings OFAH had to be the best. Blackadder 4's ending was...well,rubbish.

How can you make the fact that all the main characters get killed in battle funny or 'non rubbish'? I thought the ending of Blackadder 4 was very well done - the last five minutes or so were turned from a comedy to a tragedy seemingly effortlessly. Plus, you don't actually find out whether or not the characters make it, or are killed so the ending is left open for your judgement.
I thought this was one of the best endings a sitcom could have. I don't like Ben Elton much, but I really have to take my hat off to him (or at least put a hat on so I can take it off cos I so very rarely wear hats .. in fact I can't think of the last time I wore a hat unless you count the time a hat fell on me in BHS that time a couple of years ago, which I doubt I will count because it wasn't a very nice hat ... but anyway)...

Have to agree with you there!

The juxtaposition (sp?) of comedy and tragedy at the end of Blackadder 4 is simply breathtaking. It brings home the reality of the First World War and never fails to move me when I watch it.

although i agree that this is a somewhat limited poll, the conclusion of the blackadder series was simply one of the best endings a comedy series could hope to aspire to.

the four timelines covered were merely devices or vehicles for the character to move in, brilliantly written i have to say. the choice of 'the great war' (WW1) as a setting for the final series was a well devised and thoughtful one. the futility and wastefulness of that war - the thousands of men that (as the final scene reflected) that rushed forward in those battlefields, blindly over the trenches, following orders from generals so many miles away they had no idea what they were ordering their men to do.

ben elton as a writer/performer has often raised mixed feelings in me. he proved himself with this final installment of the blackadder story.

PS: i havent yet seen the 'blackadder back & forth', premierred at the dome. was it any good?

cheers, gav.

It was quite good - very cleverly written. The bits set in Sherwood forest were filmed in St Leonards forest 2 minutes away from me! That's another of my claims to fame! Also it featured one of my biggest enemies in life: The Tesco Clubcard!! AGH! Die evil card, die!!

Yeah, sorry about the amount of choice for this poll folks! It kinda went wrong. I wanted to preview it, and instead it submitted it!

I'll start another poll here when Asa backlogs the topics to the Archive Forum.

It may be limited poll, but since it was limited to two, you couldn't have picked two that were any better, Blackadder has my vote, its very tightly writtedm, OFAH, was brilliant, but is just beaten by Blackadder, i've got the scripts of Blackadder(and The Royle Family, Cold Feet, Vicar Of Dibley, Father Ted and Men Behaving Badly - i'm a scipts sort of guy!) and I can read Blackadder and Father Ted over and over again.

I agree that Blackadder was good and the ending was amazing - but nothing comes close to Only Fools!!!

I just hope the new episodes are as good Smile
