Peopel who watched the BBC's coverage and said it was top class but didnt see ITVs coverage- you are missing out. ITVs was better than the BBCs. I was flicking allt he time, and saw coverage on all channels and ITVs was top notch. ITV was far ahead on new development and showed much more info than BBC. I saw, BBC/News 24, ITV C4, C5, ITN News Channel, CNBC and Tara TV/RTÉ and ITV by far came out top. Dont know about any other channels as I cant recive them (im on NTL digital who dont do SKY news in our area yet and CNN is in the world pack). Another thing is MTV kept viewers well infomed with regular scrolling messages on all of their channels-just dont see how the presenters on Select were so cheery when something like that had happened.

In many ways I agree with c@t. It seems that this topic is in danger of trivialising what has actually happened.

The enormity of this still hasn't really sunk in for me. Seeing people throwing themselves from buildings and crushed under the rubble whilst families still don't know what has happened to their loved ones makes this vote very insensitive.

People cope with things in different ways and life does go on but
at the moment the wounds are still very raw. Please also remember that this site is probably visited by many people from the states and a vote on something as trivial as this would appear deeply insensitive.

Please, I don't want everyone falling out with each other!

Notice how Sky News took the relatively inexperienced chris rogers off the air within a short time of the attack yesterday - to be replaced by Sky's sr anchor Jeremy Thompson

SkyNews
Sky's Juillet Foster inappropriately wearing BRIGHT YELLOW. Blair has been the only person today to wear a black tie. If this would have been in UK (and it was the case at the time of Omagh) EVERY news anchor & politician would be in black.

Well i think this poll is being a bit bias towards BBC

Throughout every posting on this and other forums the ITV1 coverage has got a lot of praise whereas the BBC has been poor.

People always expect the BBC coverage to be superior and obviously watched thee beeb and im sure whatever channel you were watching the coverage being shown would have been spectacular but i was flicking around the channels and ITV1 did give the 'better' coverage.

All the bbc done was put news24 onto bbc1 and have loads of graphics and astons over the screen and you didnt get the whole picture (unlike itv1) as it was in widescreen - most of the pics from usa are still in 4:3 therefore to be converted for bbc widescreen tranmission you lose the top and bottom inch of the picture. Also to get around this picture lose the bbc were putting two very small 4:3 pictures in a widescreen area and hence anyone that hasnt got 20:20 vision would find it hard to see anything in particular - at some times on bbc1 i thought i was looking at 'stills' rather than live footage due to the small boxes the 4x3 footage was being shown in - the huge amount of astons didnt help either!

Members who wish to vote on TV coverage of this can feel free to do so, but not now. Not when there are 1,000's of people dead and dying in New York and Washington.

So your suggestion is what? That we wait until the people stop being ****?

Seeing as you can't vote for 2, I vote CNN and BBC News 24.

Sadly, the BBC did not get the best pictures as their source seemed to be direct from ABC. ITV1, however managed to get many sources' clips including MSNBC, ABC and CNN - including the CNN exclusive picture of the second plane colliding. Sky News also had better pictures than the BBC. Sorry, BBC - but you really underachieved on this event.

I'm sorry if I'm spoiling everyone's fun here but to me a vote on who was 'best' on the day is actually quite sickening.
What do you want? A vote on which plane was 'best' to kill 10,000 people?

I think you're being a bit melodramatic here.  It's quite obvious that we're not celebrating nor congratulating the terrorists by ading to this thread - we're commenting on how the tragedy was brought to the common man through the media and certain channels DID have better coverage than others: it's a basic fact.  By voting in this forum you are commenting upon this, not saying you agree with the motives or think it was good idea, you are simply admiting to being a consumer of the global media - which we all are.
I also don't belive it is up to you to tell us when and where we may discuss this - we all have our own ways of dealing with mourning: some people take longer than others to get over things, but it is not up to any person to decide this for others.

There are so many victims from the sinking of teh Titanic unrecovered, and bodies from WWI/II which will never be recovered. Are you saying we are not allowed to discuss these either?
We are running the risk of over-censorship here.  Don't let it happen.

The BBC have to be extremely careful which pictures they use. All pictures are available into TVC, but only selected ones are fed to the studios. This is because of copyright and legal reasons. If World accidentally cut up CNN pictures or whoever without prior agreements in place, an awful lot of cash has to be exchanged.
