Ok, here we go. The definitive, ultimate poll:
What were the best idents of the 1990's?
Arguably the best era for idents, the 90s brought us many classic never-to-be-forgotten designs.
From a big, red balloon, to those famous 2's. Including, G arrows, Cakes, big glass W's , Chevrons, etc. Along with Multicoloured blocks and a 5 in a circle.
Some poll options include idents which first aired before the 90's. For example, I have included the Channel 4 blocks as they lasted long into the 90's but omitted the BBC1 COW and the BBC2 'TWO' because they didnt survive very long into the 90's.
So lets settle this once and for all, what was the best pres package of the 90's?

...until the next one the same. Wink

But I'd agree with Central's cakes, followed by the Balloons, the 2's and Carlton's Hearts in that order.

It's a close call, very close...

But when it comes to deciding 1st place, I won't sit on the fence - I think the 2's just manage to edge out the Balloon, although honestly there's nothing between them; both gave us really superb and numerous identities, far too many to mention but I'm sure the total number at the end of their respective tenures was massive.

Similarly stuck for 3rd place - IMO, C4's original Blocks and the BBC 1 Smoky Virtual Globe are both worthy of 3rd, but if we were to bring bumpers/stings into the equation, I think the BBC "1" snatches it, as those short animations were on par with BBC 2's offerings of the time and improved the whole package immeasurably.

The 90's were a very good decade for idents and presentation, especially towards the end of the decade with the balloon and 2s, the latter of which I voted for.

Despite the fact that nearly ALL idents of the 90s were great, I find it a very big insult not to say that the 90s BBC 2's were top!

Granada 90's has to be up there. ive tried my best to find them on the net but to no avail, there were a set where the granada G logo was formed from a variety of situations/circumstances. one was with a fish blowing out a bubble under sea the bubble rising to the top and then the granada G popping out of it, another was a G inmprinted on snow from the bottom of somones shoe but i cant find any of that set anywhere. and who can beat the classic 90's ident where the logo comesinto screen slowly to that catchy yet simple jingle onto a bluey/,aroon/greeny background......classic!

What always amuses me about that one is that pres fans have always slagged off Tyne Tees for making a multi-coloured ident 10 years after everyone else... then lo and behold 3 years later Granada make one whose background is all but a ripped off copy of the "old-fashioned" TTTV one!!
