I suppose he would also hate the gays and bisexuals aswell!!!

It was a stage act - not the real man. I'm sure Bernard knew black people, went abroad on holiday, shopped in foreign owned shops, ate curries, knew of gay people etc.

I'll pass your condolences on to his family shall I Wink

I suppose the thing is if you don't like that sort of humour, you don't watch his shows Cool

ok it's sad for them, but if you give respect you gain respect, especially if you're famous, he seemed to like the notoriety that he offended people

Well in your opinion it wasn't funny.

The idea of John Thomson's sketch there was actually to poke fun at PC, and to show that politically correct humour isn't really that funny!

I think the humour from that sketch derives from the irony that the sketch isn't suppose to be funny, but is because JT is taking the p*ss.

I've known a Pakistani and gays who have been to see BM at the Embassy Club, knowing full well what his material was like.

And do you know what? They enjoyed his show, even the jokes about gays and "Pakkis"; probably because they don't take themselves too seriously.

I think they realised it was jokes he was telling, not a serious preaching of hate that is meant to be believed and to be taken on as a political message of prejudice.

Absolutely brilliant!

It just shows you that still saying "There's a black fella...", "My mother in law...", "There's a lesbian..." etc - can still pull in the laughs.

John Thompson still gets asked to do his Bernard Righton act when he is a guest on chat shows etc. When he was plugging Mobile on Radio 2 earlier this year, Mark Radcliffe made him "promise" that he would revive the character properly at some point for a telly show. Watch this space Wink

Bye Bernard.

Along with Roy Chubby Brown became one of the most un-PC comedians of our time.

Was he amusing? Well I'm borderline. At the end of the day, he clearly was a hit on the club circuit and that is a dying breed nowadays.

Reminds me of only seeing an archive clip on that TISWAS reunion show the other night with wrestler, Big Daddy and the then World's Strongest Man attempting to lift them both but ending up with a buckled knee!

But he was a crude and offensive cock at times too.

So, in my opinion, are Jonathan Ross and Graham Norton. I wonder how history will record them, once, and they will, fall out of favour.
