What happens if he appeals and gets acquitted? There would have to be quite a dramatic U-turn by the media.

There'd have to be quite a dramatic U-turn by the legal system as well. Unanimous on 12 charges? Good luck.

One thing's for sure, this'll never be shown again.

I can only gather that it'd cause offence because (ignoring the fact it was made before this story developed) it's from a time when we still liked respected Rolf Harris, and that probably won't sit comfortably with some people in the same way somebody might say how great a DJ Jimmy Savile was.

Savile was a terrible radio presenter, his shows were truly, truly, deeply awful, never mind anything else, quite what the BBC thought they were doing by employing him on Radio 1 is beyond me. Perhaps it was a deal to hand Radio 1's audience over to ILR when he was on !

Presenter, then? I can't quite pinpoint what Jimmy Savile was good at besides, well... ruining children's lives.

He was nothing more than a talentless con artist, I've thought so for the last 45 years or so, of course if I'd stated that pre October 2012, I'd have had this post removed for daring to criticise a national treasure. Funny old world isn't it ?

I've found a couple of comedy pieces from before Savile died, both by radio people, which seem to be alluding to what we now know. Whether these were innocent coincidences or whether his activities were the subject of industry gossip, I make no comment.

Oh there's loads of those. It was far more of an open secret than the industry is admitting even now.

Viewer discretion advised etc etc...

Steve in Pudsey and David gave kudos

Inspector Sands
And Jerry Sadowitz of course, who had to withdraw copies of his show from sale because of what he said about Savile:

It's perhaps worth looking to Mock the Week's (endless) repeats on Dave,

and the band was Showaddywaddy.
