There was one post in the Sport thread months ago that BBC Sport will get new graphics this summer.. if they are presumably they will launch on Friday, think its about time they had a refresh.

The graphics on the preview stuff on BBCi are in the old style - basically black and red with rotating Olympic rings on a red background.

Whether that's an indication of what we'll see on Friday or not though remains to be seen - would make alot of sense to relaunch this weekend with the Olympics and the new football season starting.

Notice in Radio Times they refer to the interactive streams as 301, 302 and "Press Red", so doesn't look like the BBC Parliament stream will get a slot in the 300's.

Two questions - has there been no incorporation of the Olympic Rings in BBC1 branding at all this time. I'd have thought they'd be incorporated into the end caps (in the obvious manner) at least. They could even quite easily be included in the idents - talking of which, I guess there won't be an Olympic ident.

And secondly, has S4C ever broadcast anything from the Olympics (except when C4 had coverage back in 1988). I'd have thought they'd get a daily highlights show at least, but to my knowledge they've never had any coverage of the games.

Are these the ones?

If so then I think they are just using stuff from last time round, because they animate oddly and they are a step back and would look awful in HD.

If you're wondering what the host broadcaster graphics will look like, the official video game uses them:

And if they are, then they are very nice. Very much like Athens and Sydney in size and font style. And not at all like the horrid big and 'Americanised' captions used in Turino two years ago.

Hopefully this time there will be some 3d-ish grading to them and hopefully this time they will animation on and off screen, I seem to remember they just faded on and off in the last two Olympics.

Aren't they basically modelled on the graphics used for Torino in 2006?

Olympic Football begins tomorrow on BBCi - might be the first chance (and possibly last) to get a glimpse of the official titles for the games.

Last time round the BBCi feeds carried a lot of the core "host broadcaster" titles didn't they? I'd be surprised if this was any different - I don't think the Beeb have enough production facilities to augment the host feeds on BBCi enough to blanket titles etc.

They seem to have new graphics on the Women's Football on BBCi now - a commentator BBC strap just came up and it was silver and bevelled with a new animation. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/olympics/7534964.stm

Scoreboards are still same though, but I see nothing wrong with them.

These are gross, you'd think they would go to a bit more effort with HD and all... oh well, hopefully we won't be subject to these come Friday!

I don't understand why the BBC aren't using the third stream which is now available to them. They are screening three matches live from todays, but the third is only on Sky/Cable despite the fact the BBC Parliament stream is currently unused.

The BBC's blue graphics do look better than the red used on the previews the other day, but I'm surprised the official ones were not given a lick of red paint considering that is the colour of the Beijing logo - though the boarding around the stadia itself is predominantly yellow, orange and green from what I've seen.
