The half-hour Eddie Butler highlights edit they ran at 12 noon was just simply brilliant, beatifully written, beautifully produced and beautifully edited. Great choice of music as well - and fantastic light and shade.

I agree excellent coverage from the BBC - I just hope in the next four years our true world class sports get the coverage they deserve and they're not forgotten until the next Olympics.
Agreed. I don't know how old you are but I remember when Britain won a gold for Men's Hockey, there was some initial interest following the Olympics and then the media seemed to stop covering it. I doubt that wiull happen this time though.

That was superb and there were things there that I missed, like the Cuban martial arts person kicking a ref in the head!! Shocked

Why, oh why, have the BBC Cutaway from Beijing to The Mall several times in this programme?

A blot on their coverage in my view.

Would have to agree with you cornwall. Is that not the reason why they have this concert after the closing from Bejing?

Congratulations to the BBC for making the olympics enjoyable, although I think Team GB has done there part to, as has Bejing with a superb opening.

Hoping London will just be as good in 2012

It's nearly time out for China, and now they've handed it over to London! It's been a good Olympics, especially the opening, and of course, the closing (of what has been broadcast already) ceromonies too.
I so can't wait for it to come to London - one of the greatest cities in the world! Laughing

Well done to Britain! Cool About time we had some success.

Back in London and I already don't like the stage design...looks like a car showroom stand. Confused

It's a pitty there was no proper close to the Olympics 2008 BBC programme, instead linking straight to this live concert (which it may just be me seems totally surplus to requirements and fairly generic 'live BBC concert')

LOL @ Sue Barker - "Let's get the party started!".

Look forward to catching Eddie Butler's round up - not seen it yet. Shame there was no credits at the end of the Closing Ceremony though - the concert could have waited a few minutes.

I have to say, the taster of 2012 reminds me of the bbc one dancers

I think cutting to London as the Mayor of London arrived was entirely appropriate - showing a reaction from London worked really well for me. Only done once or twice and didn't blot my enjoyment at all. Made it feel more like a proper handover to us.

Cutting away from Boris Johnson was a very wise move.

Had to turn off the handover concert though when a bloody Atmoic Kitten appeared - absolutely **** all to do with the Olympics and a shame they feel the need to turn it into a parade of Z-list celebs.
