Where is The Games Today on the final day? Confused

By the way weirdly BBC1 have decided to repeat the Opening Ceremony at 11.20pm on Friday.

11.20pm on BBC2 with a 90-minute recap of the Closing Ceremony, which is ridiculous. The games need a proper round up, especially with the focus shifting to London, and generally speaking they don't get the time to do that properly in the live coverage. And of all people, Claudia Winkleman and Matt Baker are fronting the Handover concert in London on Sunday!

Seems to have been a bit of musical chairs with the presenters too - Claire Balding came into Olympic Breakfast when Hazel shifted to the "morning" sessions of the athletics, but now they seem to have swapped, while Rishi Persad has gone out to Hong Kong to replace Claire at the Equestrian.

And Jake Humphrey is still nowhere near the standard required to be fronting the bulk of the afternoon coverage alone - he really is just too CBBC for it and treats the audience as children. Now the rowing has finished John Inverdale really should have been bought in for that slot.

Why? I've seen lots with him, and he's doing fine. I think you're just stereotyping him because you know where he's from - would you think of him the same way if he'd only been on BBC Sport? Just think about it properly.

I think Humphreys has been fine as well.

The problem is he's been with BBC Sport now for at least a year and still hasn't made the leap from children's broadcaster to sports broadcaster.

He is simply not the best man for the job. If he'd been given the overnight role or a reporting role fair enough, but to be given what is arguably one of the flagship presenting roles of the games when there is a long list of people there who are proven in their field and would do a much better job.

But what I'm saying is, if you hadn't known where he came from, would you think 'children's presenter'?

That's a response to the many complaints about there only being 30 minutes of highlights in The Games Today.

As for Jake, I'd seen him on BBC Sport for quite a while before I found out he was from CBBC, don't think he's come across as a children's TV presenter at all.

There is no Games Today on the final day - the 11:20pm show that Brekkie is talking about is just highlights of the Closing Ceremony.

I do agree though that there should be a Games Today on the final day to wrap up everything that has happened during the Olympics - looking at BBC One's schedule for Sunday, they can easily slot an edition of Games Today:

6am: Olympic Breakfast
10am: Olympics 2008
12pm: Olympics 2008: Closing Ceremony
3:15pm: London 2012 Party
5pm: Games Today
7pm: Songs of Praise
7:35pm: BBC News (Including Regional News)

I would make it a two hour show & focus only on the highlights of the Beijing Olympics (Closing Ceremony highlights can be left for the 11:20pm show on BBC Two, which not only should be extended by an extra 10 minutes [to make it go for 100 mins & to finish at 1am, to allow easy opt-in/out of BBC News later in the night] but should also be branded as Games Today [like the Opening Ceremony highlights.]

What is your problem with him? Even when he was ultra-CBBC I remember thinking he was a pretty good presenter who should go on to better things in adult television as he was a cut above the Anne Foy-types. In fact the other day my girlfriend mentioned to me how good he is as a presenter and deserved the slots he was getting. He clearly knows his stuff, and as for still being on CBBC - other than Sportsround (which seems rather appropriate) and old repeats which he has little control over, so what?

I agree he was very good at CBBC, but to me he's just not made the step up required, unlike Ellie from Newsround who seems very comfortable in her role with BBC News.

It seems you're the only one who thinks that. Also, what about my question?
