It would perhaps look nice if they could include the rings into the ident and fade them into the BBC One logo, with the middle ring appearing at the same place as the "o" in BBC One.

Annoyingly right now, BBC Parliament on Freeview is showing the opening ceremony, but the MHEG is all over the top of it and you can't get to it through the menu. Nevertheless it's scheduled to be repeated on both 302 and 81 at midnight. (302 currently showing Sports News).

Interesting seeing 'World News America' tonight on the BBC News channel. Being a BBC World programme they don't have rights to the coverage and are having to admit that they 'can't show' it actually happening. They're making do with long shots of the stadium fireworks.
Expect lots of this over the next 2 weeks - the rules regarding broadcasting clips of the Olympics are very complicated and highly restrictive. The non rights holders are going to really struggle even the international services from Olympic rights holders like BBC World and Al Jazeera don't get round them

I notice if I tune directly to 81, and press red, then select the Opening Ceremony from the BBCi menu, I get a blue button menu prompt in the top right, as on 301 and 302. But if I've accessed 81 via 301 or 302, it's stuck on Press 0 to return.
Also I can't adjust my widescreen setting on this from anything other than letterbox, and there's horrible white dots at the very top.

Didn't notice the first time I looked at that, but if you click on "EBU Broadcasters Live", you can watch live coverage from many EBU members. The BBC stream doesn't seem to be there, but there is RTE, RAI, TVE, ZDF/ARD and many others. Just saw a bit of ORF, they seem to be presenting from Austria because they've got quite a nice big studio with big screens and no windows.
