Construction of the new office buildings at White City is six months ahead of schedual. This means that hundreds of people will move from Broadcasting House befor the end of 2003 instead of in the spring 2004.

The £260m project will create 650,000 sq ft of new space including the Broadcast Centre headquarters for BBC Broadcast, a central office building, shops, restaurants and an energy center which is also expected to be the home of the BBC club.

There are a few pics of new building in other areas, but none of white city I'm afraid.

Still
I think it looks great, and it'll be good to have all the radio and news services coming together from the centre of london again.

The objections to the plans sound rather petty to me, but I guess an agreement is an agreement.

Slightly off topic but here is the impressions for BBC Scotlands new HQ in Glasgow to be completed in 2005.

Does anyone know how many studios the development will incorporate ?

From BBC Scotland :

BBC Scotland has unveiled the design of its planned new digital broadcasting headquarters at Pacific Quay on the south bank of the River Clyde in Glasgow.
The £30m building has been designed by London-based David Chipperfield Architects (DCA), which was chosen from a field of over 70 international design companies.

It will be the BBC's first digital broadcasting centre of the 21st century.

Work will begin on site early next year with completion anticipated for late 2004.

Interactive facilities in the reception area for the public and a live background overlooking the Clyde from the Reporting Scotland studio are among the many features in the new building.

BBC Scotland Controller, John McCormick said: "The outstanding quality of the design befits this landmark project."

"The design is radical, imaginative and exciting. It combines the production spaces we require with a real understanding of the importance of creating an environment that is accessible and welcoming to staff, visitors, contributors and to members of the public.

"The building, and its riverside location, are intended to allow it to 'anchor' the whole Pacific Quay site, around which other creative industries may grow.

Focal point

"I believe the new headquarters building will come to embody everything that the BBC stands for in Scotland - creativity, professionalism and a powerful sense of community."

The new BBC Scotland headquarters building is being hailed as a major focal point for the continued development and regeneration of Pacific Quay.

The 60-acre site is currently undergoing a major transformation to include the Glasgow Science Centre, Imax Cinema, the Millennium Tower and Pacific Quay Developments' business park.

BBC Scotland will submit a planning application to Glasgow City Council in the Autumn for a new bridge linking Pacific Quay with the city centre.

BBC Wales is apparantly moving to new headquaters in a few years time. The current building in the leafy Cardiff suburbs is HUGE. Although I'm reliably informed that TVC in London is a lot bigger than BBC Wales!

I've never actually seen TVC, except for on TV.

There's been talk for years that BBC Wales will move as all the staff will testify, but they're still there. At least on my last visit they were.

I heard from somewhere a while ago that the new building will enable Reporting Scotland to have a real window overlooking the River Clyde as part of its studio which would be nice, I wonder will that be the first time Reporting Scotland gets a revamp of some sort or can we expect one before that?

These are very cool. I especialy like the plans for Broadcasting House (the entire building). Although, I think the BBC will have to choose the design of the newsroom carefully -- so that it can become an icon rather than something that changes with every fad. I'm thinking the focus will be on functionality a la CNN or SkyNews -- and I like that design.

The new look Broadcasting House looks very nice! It's huge! What on earth do they need all of that extra space for, apart from the News Rooms?

On the subject of BBC Wales' Headquarters, does anyone know if they still use the building on the left of the road, as you drive up from the roundabout?

I know they used to use it, but apparantly they stopped using it so much.
