Images from Digital Spy

This appeared on Telewest today. Not keen on it myself - the current logo is already very recognisable, making this just look a bit bizarre at first glance! Having said that, I suppose it does make the fact that it's to do with the red button on digital TV more prominent, now that it's not associated with the website any more.

which brings the question, why is the freeview version of BBCi still so ugly?

A ploy to keep it different from ITVi I expect - before the two logos were identical.

It's quite good in terms of BBCi only being on Digital TV now; the i being on a circle makes it more consistant with the red button on remotes!

Unfortunately though, changing the colour of the BBCi logo to black and red doesn't really help in this respect.

I like that a lot. Hopefully they'll just have the red circle with the i in the corner of the screen rather than the Press Red, Extra, etc.

Why is it just on Telewest & not Sky or Freeview?

The new look is extending to Sky in the next few weeks according to skydigionline. I have Sky at home which is good, but I'm a student so when I'm away I've got Freeview and Freeview's version of BBCi desperately needs improving.

Look at this!!

It's on the BBC website, all digital platforms are going to have it!!

It's only a few months since the last relaunch.

Hopefully the new relaunch will incorporate page numbers in a much better way than they do currently. Teletext and Sky have incorporated them excellently, but on BBCi it's been quite appallingly done

Really, why do you think that?

I think it works well, especially compared to the old no page number format.

The press release says that all of BBCi will be red, white & black, so why is this blue & white!!!?

Because the boy makes it his business to slag off everything the BBC does without any actual consideration.

True as that is, he is right on this one.

Not only is there a silly system of having 4 digit numbers in addition to 3 digit numbers when there is simply no need for them (Ceefax doesn't use the 700s any more, use them) but you have to press select to get to pages. Also only index pages seem to have them while individual story pages lack them. The whole thing looks like an afterthought as if they are still clinging to the false hope of everyone using the clunky menu systems
