Old news? I spotted a new 'next'-banner on 'BBC3' during today's 'Torchwood'.

The old one was a single-blended 2.d. rectangle that horizontally slid on screen. This one animates on like a wind-screen-wiper, and seems to be 3.d.

So after all the hype, Marketing ensures that Torchwood is, erm, torched.

This is one of the main reasons I refuse to watch the channel. Or indeed any channel that patronises me this way.

It's ruined my life. I shall not be turning my TV on any time in the future. Is this what we get in return for the licence fee? It's a disgrace.

I particularly loved the way it animated out of my TV set, wrapped itself round my neck and throttled me.

I shall be sueing for compensation and a free Doctor Who DVD box set.

If you really don't want to have the DOGs while watching Torchwood, you can always watch the repeat on Wednesdays.

1. I've not decided whether I want to watch 'Torchwood' again EDIT: With reference to my post on the front page (how good is that?!) of the 'Torchwood' thread .

2. I'm just commenting about the presentation change. I am slightly disapointed because clearly the old one dated back to the days when the trailer-endcaps were a blue - white blended strip, which the old white logo sat ontop of. I am disapointed because the idents now seem to be the only remnents of the channel's opening look (which includes trailer end-boards, next captions [during television shows], next captions as idents [if i remember correctly there were the next three programmes promoted, each with its own blue - white strip. {Now there seems to be a single strip, which has the later programme after the next programme, with the 'camera' pan-ing around a scene with loads of icy 'three's . . . if you follow me?!}]).

Please tell me that 99.9% of these comments are sarcastic!

How in the blue hell can a next banner ruin a programme when it's onscreen for a few seconds.

You want a clean copy, either record wednesday's repeat or buy the dvd.

Forgot to mention the BBC THREE leading into torchwood was all flickering and strange noises came from my TV - is this just for torchwood or other programs?

Because it's treating me like either an idiot, or someone with the attention span of a goldfish. I can find out what's next by picking up a TV guide or picking up my remote. I don't want something bursting on top of my programme, distracting me while I'm watching my programmes (especially as these things are designed to get your attention as much as posible). So yes, I have recently cut back on my TV viewing significantly to avoid channels which use these things.

And I don't care how stupid or sad members of this forum think I am (I'm sure more then enough peopl on here already have a low enough opinion of me, though not that it matters, with all the people on here obsessed with News 24 presenter rotas and other such things of insignificance).

But BBC Three isn't the only channel to tell you what's next. ITV have done it for several years now, as have other digital services.
