BBC2's Saturday Morning Schedule: Revamp Needed!

I've just noticed that BBC2 have replaced 'Saturday Kitchen' on Saturday mornings with yet more repeats of cookery programmes and a repeat of 'Animal Park'. I know this has been discussed before, but also Weekend 24 continues to dominate the morning schedule from 6am until 10am as well.
Isn't it about time BBC2 revised their Saturday morning schedules with something else. Gone are the days of the Saturday morning film or comedy series such as The Phil Silvers Show. Why can't the BBC2 schedulers treat us viewers to something along those lines instead of showing pointless cookery repeats, or show at least 1 film at 10am until 12pm to make way for See Hear! in it's usual 12pm slot.
Rant over Very Happy , but I just can't stand BBC2's Saturday morning schedule at all, especially when it used to be so good in the late 1990's.

The cookery programmes in that slot have proved to be very popular.

The cookery programmes may well be popular Mark, but the schedule still could be much better. They really should cator for more viewers and show a film or a classic repeat of an old 60's show such as The Munsters or Flash Gordon.
Saturday Kitchen was popular though I agree, but now that there series has come to an end, instead of showing pointless repeats why can't viewers be treated to a couple of films or The Phil Silvers Show instead of Animal Park and Ken Hom's Hot Wok? Very Happy

While I don't disagree that the schedule could be better (though you could say that about ANY television schedule), "better" is a matter of opinion. I'm not sure that many would agree that your choices would be theirs. They're more cult material than mainstream.

Animal Park appears to be "Filler Of The Moment", though I'm sure it'll be "Fresh Prince" again before too long...

it's all a matter of opinion, really. I'd much prefer Saturday Kitchen to some ancient repeat of a cult series, which in my opinion would be less popular. Personally wouldn't be at all interested in The Munsters or Flash Gordon at all. Having said that, Animal Park is abysmal.

Just how many times do you want it to be shown?!

Don't start me on Fresh Prince Very Happy Very Happy
I agree it is all a matter of personal opinion overall. Animal Park does seem to be shown an awful lot at the moment. It is often repeated on BBC1 and BBC2 during the weekdays as well.
What annoys me about BBC2's Saturday morning schedule is they have 2 hours to fill. This is plenty of space for a decent movie. The BBC2 schedulers of old would have certainly put a film in this slot. Okay, it may be a black & white film, but these films can be equally as entertaining as the new films of today.
I am half expecting there to be an 'Animal Park' double bill from 10am until 12pm in the near future on a Saturday morning Very Happy

They would have put a film in the slot because they had little else to show. Are films the best thing a public service broadcaster can show?
