NI have brought back the 1992, 1994 and 1996 idents. Any of those would be suitable for the news.

Yes, it's nice to have them used again this year. However, I do have a major gripe.

There's been a locally-created sting, made from the Christmas 1992 (Tree) ident. A snippet of the original audio has been used for the sting's duration. I was under the impression that the reason for the replacement of the original soundtracks was due to copyright issues, or something along those lines that make their use on air pretty much insurmountable at this present time. The use of the original soundtrack with this locally created sting suggests this isn't the case. Therefore, I am very irked that the original soundtracks couldn't be used with the three retro idents Sad

The soundtracks used are what we hear all year round and it just would have been nice to hear something fresh for Christmas time, and that have a Christmassy feel to them, as their original soundtracks all had. I missed opportunity to properly relive these three retro idents. Also, the use of the other 'wizard' version of the 1996 Christmas ident would have been cool.

Do you have the Christmas 1992 (Tree) sting by any chance?

What did Scotland do since there were running behide by 20min?

Because we were live recording the programme, we knew in advance where the vision loss was coming and put up an apology caption and voiceover alerting viewers to the fact that the fault would clear in a minute!

I was half expecting It to be filted out? Is that even possible?

Probably not in the timescale, but what would you do if you could, create a jump edit, that would just confuse the punter ?

White flash? I'm not sure.

No. A Live record starts playing back before the programme has finished being played out from London, so you can't edit it. We kept the audio going and informed the viewers - best that was possible.

Over a minute with no picture before the breakdown slide came on. Had someone gone to the loo? Wink

And when they did turn up, they cut the audio too. Might have been better just to have left it all alone !

Thankfully the nations feed that Scotland continued in sound only was sourced upstream of network pres ?
