Such a shame to see the 2011 idents without the original music. Quite how anyone can think those sung versions are better than what was bespoke produced for each ident is beyond me. Surely a rights issue?!

I actually think they should have brought back the Sprite idents this year. Who would have minded seeing those again? It would have made a change and also been a quality presentation package. The singy songy carol nonsense demeans BBC2 as a serious channel.

Looks like there are three edited idents from the Christmas 2011 package - with the slaughtered soundtracks from 2016.

Not a good look.

Edit: Four actually.

Am I the only one that prefers the music used this year? I mean... isn’t it being used slightly ironically?

Most probably. But it's wearing thin after three years for a package that runs a full month.

3D print a big 2, wrap some fairy lights around it and plonk it in festive situations. Cheap and naff maybe, but it'd be better than this.

Quick question that I couldn't find the answer too. What happens before Newsnight? Do they just play out a regular ident because none of these are news-y enough.

Or what happens (god-forbid) if a Queen Mother style incident happens where it interrupts both channels?

Ooh, BBC TWO NI aired a sting based on the 1992 Christmas ident.

For the last two Christmases, they've used Silk into Newsnight and I fully expect them to do the same again this year as well.

Over a minute with no picture before the breakdown slide came on. Had someone gone to the loo? Wink

You might be surprised then. Slightly, not majorly.

Very slightly prefered the 2011 music used with the idents, but I like them
