Wow!!! Looking forward to seeing this. I've only known the T W O and the 2 era of BBC2. It will be a huge shame to see the 2 logo go completely. However, I do hope the new package will be consistent across all the end boards, idents and the Subtitles is finally lined up with the teal box, if the box does in fact remain.

It will also be good that some kind of logo remains and some thought has been put into the process, rather than BBC2 being slapper across some generic film involving people it animals etc, like other channels have in recent years. Some kind of a abstract 2 logo will be cool, similar to Channel 4 currently.

I wonder if BBC2 will treat us to ALL the 90's idents tomorrow via all the junctions (if there are enough junctions) or at least do a huge montage of 90's idents at some point at the end of the day. They did it before with the personality led 2's, and surely the original 2's deserve a more fitting sendoff than those or the 2007 revamped idents?

Or, will the new idents launch and then mysteriously disappear after the 2nd or 3rd outing like the 2007 idents when they got rid of the teal logo for all of 2 junctions??

This will be interesting!!

Plus, it will be interesting to see if it results in 100 pages of posts on TV Forum after a few days as what happened when 'Oneness' was introduced in 2017. Asa's site had never been more popular!! New servers etc had to be brought in to keep up with demand on those 1st few days of 2017!! Haha.

Martin Lambie-Nairn slammed the Oneness idents. And too right he was for doing so, as they are naff. If he has been involved in these new BBC2 idents, then I expect some decent and radical designs from this branding company when they launch on Thursday. Then, he can get to work on BBC1 and work his magic.

Thursday 27th September 2018 schedule just shows how appalling their output is.

6.00am until 9.00am is repeats of lifestyle shows, Chase the Case quiz.
Then from 9.00am until 1.00pm it is live news and politics.
From 1.00pm we return to the repeats e.g. Who Do You Think You Are, For What Its Worth etc.
Then after five hours of repeats we get some new programming, with Letterbox, Strictly: It Takes Two, leading into the main schedule.
Once Newsnight has ended we are back to repeats.

So in a 24 hour period, there is only 9 hours, 15 minutes of new programming, with three hours of the news coverage just a simulcast with BBC News Channel.

Time to get the schedules revamped, and more money poured in to BBC Two.

And to think I criticise the BBC for using botched versions of the BBC logo on their programmes and here's what the man who designed it has on his own website:

I hope you'll be on duty to give them the final send off? Go on, give a mention to those 'over on the forum...'. Wink

His website is a little odd - new work from the last couple of years is mixed together with projects from years previous. Of course that work should be highlighted but I feel it would make more sense for things to be in reverse chronological order.

I assume the site is not maintained solely by him, the BBC page has a few errors like you point out. I'm not sure how they managed to use a still from a balloon ident with the 2002 red box logo - surely not from the old APFS-esque fantasy page on TV & Radio Bits?

While searching for idents on Sky Q, there is an unaired BBC ident titled "BBC Event Safe 1", which has the BBC logo in gold in front of a purple silk background. This might be a generic ident for when Queen Elizbeth dies.

There are also versions for BBC One and BBC Two, which are silent versions of the main idents. BBC One has the generic one and BBC Two has will be retired Silk.
