Yet black and white popped up for daytime then disappearerd, snake one i have no idea what is should be used for. Block was drama but that now been replaces by clouds and white idents

Its clear there were testing stuff out but it would be nice to know what each ident should be used for...

Really hope you don’t take this the wrong way, but this logging of idents, effectively, is really dull, and nobody here is going to have answers to the questions you have about their usage or lack of. It’s really repetitive to read.

Logging of idents is what we do! I can think of one person that would have an answer that is close to the playout area. Wink Anyway, we'll just have to wait and see.

As long as its not Rota.. Its still unclear whether the idents have a set playout or its just random.

That clearly is moving into rota territory. Any channel which has had a larger number of idents to pick from has always used some more sparingly than others - usually because they're either very good or very bad. I think it is quite nice to have a handful of idents they use more sparingly.

Moving on though and I hope the new branding means they are back in the Christmas game each year and not reliant on repeating the same set of idents year after year. If that is the route they do go down though I think they need a generic set of Christmas idents which can be used annually (like ITV) rather than a clear theme which IMO tires quickly if used year after year.

The irony that Asa has built an automatic ident rota compiler is not lost Smile

It's been said before but it bears repeating, this lovely fresh modern look for BBC 2 really makes BBC 1 look like complete crap in comparison. How long are they going to wait before dumping the failure that is Oneness and giving us a proper look for the channel? It's frankly embarassing.

Couldn't agree more Very Happy

As a note, Brown Pins did show up in the early hours nearly a month after its last appearance. So just one left that's seemingly unpopular with the planning team!

As someone has already said, it really isn't anything new or unexpected that some are being used more than others. It happened with the "Windows" set, Sunroof took a while to appear then became the de facto default ident, while the Chase idents were very rarely used.

I'm sure it happened with the 91-01 2s too. The variety of this set is incredible and the rarity of some just adds to the specialness and surprise in my opinion.

Yeah. Think they'll have anything planned for January? I'm not optimistic.

More new ones for Oneness I’d assume.

I get the feeling that BBC2 will have another 3 or 4 new idents before Christmas, then a blitz in January.

Unfortunate Scheduling of a recorded programme in Remembrance week with a reference to Dunkirk and the attitude of those involved at the start of Only Connect tonight. Victoria Coren Mitchell has already apologised personally on Twitter
